What does pushing mean during childbirth. The onset of labor: important tips for those who give birth for the first time How to breathe during childbirth

The birth of a beloved baby is, of course, the happiest memory in a woman's life, but there is a nuance in natural childbirth that she would gladly forget - and this is a period of attempts. Nevertheless, the birth process is impossible without them, so all that remains for the woman in labor is to push correctly.

What is childbirth

Attempts are a reflex contraction of the muscles of the diaphragm and abdominals, which begins when the baby's head or ass (depending on the presentation) affects special nerve endings in the cervix, pelvic floor muscles, and also the vagina. This type of muscle contraction contributes to an increase in intra-abdominal pressure, which, along with increased pressure inside the uterus (as a result of contractions), helps the baby exit the birth canal. In short: contractions open the cervix, and pushing pushes the baby out of the uterus and further.

How do they manifest themselves, what does a woman in labor feel?

Very often, women describe attempts as an almost irresistible desire to go to the toilet in great need. This is explained by very strong pressure on the rectum and contraction of the abdominal muscles, which is almost analogous to the process of emptying the intestines. But if you feel everything differently, there is nothing to worry about, because each organism is individual.

An important point in the right attempts is the ability to combine relaxation and effort

During childbirth under the supervision of a doctor, it is he who sees the beginning of attempts and will tell you that now you have to push. Interestingly, many women say that despite the maximum intensity of the contractions at this time, at the beginning of the attempts, the pain sensations subside, and the mood improves. Perhaps because the woman in labor finally gets the opportunity to somehow control the process.

At the beginning of attempts, a woman should remember an important nuance - in the process of passing through the birth canal, the baby squeezes all nearby organs, and almost all women in labor experience involuntary emptying of the intestines and bladder. It is worth remembering that:

  • doctors see this in almost every birth and there is no need to be shy;
  • restraining urges will only complicate the process of delivery;
  • all secretions are immediately removed, and the child does not come into contact with them.

A woman's awareness of the course of childbirth will help her not to get confused at the most crucial moment.

When attempts begin, their duration and frequency

Attempts are the second period of childbirth, which is dissonantly called "exorcising." It begins after the full opening of the cervix as a result of contractions. In women giving birth for the first time, it lasts about an hour or two, but in multiparous women, from 10–15 minutes to an hour. The duration of attempts is lengthened if:

  • the expectant mother has a narrow pelvis;
  • a large baby is expected;
  • if the head of the crumbs is not pressed to the chin or he comes out facing forward.

On average, an attempt lasts 10-15 seconds; in one contraction, a woman usually pushes three times.

After a 10-centimeter opening of the cervix, attempts are added to contractions during childbirth

How to properly push in childbirth

When attempts begin, you must definitely call a doctor, because it is his recommendations that help to push in a timely and correct manner, saving strength. The main task of a woman during the period of attempts is to concentrate all her strength on the process and listen to the instructions of the obstetrician.

How to behave a woman with attempts in the second stage of labor: instructions on what to do and how to breathe

Of course, many can say that at the beginning of attempts, it’s not up to listening to other people’s orders, because the body is exhausted by contractions, and moral strength is completely exhausted. I want to finally give birth, so that everything ends quickly, especially since, it seems, you just have to strain yourself, and the child will jump out by itself. But think about the fact that the right attempts are sometimes a guarantee of the health of your health and the well-being of the baby.

Incorrect attempts can provoke a situation where the vagina, cervix may tear, hemorrhoids may occur, injuries in the baby, etc. To make the attempts productive and least painful for you, try to follow these rules:

  1. In the interval between the attempts, the woman in labor should breathe deeply and rhythmically, exhaling strongly and inhaling deeply.
  2. When the obstetrician gives the command, the woman should lean forward a little, pressing her chin to her chest, push her knees apart and try to press them to her armpits. To make the emphasis better, it is advisable to clasp your knees with your hands.
  3. The strength of the attempts should be increased gradually, focusing on an increase in the urges of the body.
  4. With each attempt, a woman should try to tighten her muscles as much as possible, thereby moving the baby along the birth canal. Remember, the longer the baby is "halfway", the greater the lack of oxygen he experiences.
  5. You need to push when you exhale, as soon as you feel the beginning of an attempt, and stop when you feel the need to take a breath. After inhaling, the entire “procedure” should be started anew.
  6. Pain or burning in the vagina is a sign of the productivity of your attempts and a sign that the baby is getting closer to being born.
  7. Breathing should be as even and smooth as possible, uninterrupted - with sharp strong exhalations and inhalations, the crumbs are drawn back into the birth canal. And this means that you lengthen the time of childbirth and worsen the condition of the baby.
  8. Each contraction should contain at least 3 attempts, so you do not need to say to yourself: "I will rest a little and continue again." Natural childbirth, and in particular attempts, is a very hard physical labor, the intensity of which depends on the health of your unborn baby.
  9. When the doctor sees that the baby will very soon announce his birth with a cry, he will most likely tell you about the need to gather all your strength and make the last push. And you will feel just incredible relief and joy when you see your baby for the first time, and all the pain will be forgotten.

During the first birth, I was very frightened and therefore almost did not hear the doctor's instructions, feeling only a fog in my head. Now I understand that I pushed uncontrollably, following my instincts, and the child was practically squeezed out of me. As a result - gaps and hemorrhoids. In the second birth, I already knew what awaited me, so I was much more attentive to the words of the doctor, and gave birth much easier and without breaks. Now I can say that the attempts were like ebb and flow in the sea - they rolled over irresistibly, gradually increasing their strength, and you also need to gradually increase your effort aimed at pushing the baby out. And in between, you just need to relax and not think about anything ... I note that I already felt the beginning of the last attempt at the birth of the second one clearly even without a doctor, although she thought that with my weak labor activity I would give birth for a long time. Just at some point, I told her that now I would push and ... gave birth!

How to push in the third stage of labor

After the birth of the baby, mommy is given about 15 minutes to take a break from childbirth. In addition, during this time the placenta will descend into the birth canal. After the break, the woman will need to push slightly when she feels an attempt, and the placenta, along with the fetal bladder, will come out of it. I must say that the birth canal still remains greatly expanded after the baby, and the exit of the afterbirth occurs in general almost imperceptibly. That's all - childbirth is considered over.

How to learn how to push correctly to avoid tears

Preparation for childbirth should begin a couple of months before them, but from the moment of pregnancy, pay special attention to your physical condition. Childbirth is hard work and it requires training of all muscle groups. Therefore, when you become pregnant, you should not immediately fall on the sofa and lie there for 9 months, being distracted only by trips to the refrigerator in search of something sweet, because “I don’t want it, it’s the baby asking!”

Statistics show that women who are overweight and not physically fit take longer to give birth and are at greater risk of having ruptures. But, of course, you need to approach training wisely, at special courses the trainer will tell you exercises for:

  • general strengthening of the body;
  • training the muscles of the abdomen and perineum (Kegel) to prevent ruptures and facilitate childbirth;
  • chest.

However, good physical training can help little if you do not take into account such nuances:

  • sign up for childbirth preparation courses - here they will tell you about proper breathing, the stages of childbirth, the features of contractions and attempts, and other important things;
  • if there is no finance for courses, study the same information on the Internet - it has been proven that a woman who knows how everything is happening does not experience such a panic as an ignorant one;
  • Less listen to the scary stories of friends about problems during childbirth. If everything was so sad, humanity should have died out by now. To avoid excesses, it is better to tell relatives and friends in advance that you do not want to hear about someone's negative experience.

Good physical preparation of a woman in labor will help her push more productively in childbirth

During my first pregnancy, I was terribly frightened by the stories of my husband's cousin about how her first child almost suffocated due to entanglement with the umbilical cord, and the second had asphyxia and was “pumped out”. The situation was especially aggravated by the fact that the ultrasound showed entanglement in my baby. As a result, my entire pregnancy was filled with fears. Fortunately, before giving birth, the baby got out of the umbilical cord, and everything went fine. but since then I have wised up and during the second pregnancy periodically read funny stories about childbirth. Very positive reading, I recommend it to everyone!

Some simple tips will help ease the course of attempts during childbirth:

  1. When trying, you need to strain only the abdominal muscles and the diaphragm, as if pushing the child out;
  2. It is undesirable to scream during childbirth, because. you spend the last of your strength on this and, moreover, you do not hear what the doctor says. And, of course, with an unstoppable ora, one gets short of breath, which is generally very bad with attempts.
  3. If a woman feels a desire to push, and the obstetrician says “You can’t!”, The attempt should be breathed out - this will help rapid breathing “like a dog”, as it is sometimes called, that is, with a short breath and exhale;
  4. You should not give up if you don’t have the strength to push further, and shout something like - “Do a better cesarean or cut the perineum!”. An emergency cesarean is much more difficult for both mother and baby, and a perineal incision (episiotomy) can threaten you with the inability to sit for the first 2 weeks, fecal and urinary incontinence, pain during sex and other unpleasant moments. These procedures are done only if there are appropriate indications. The energy expended on screaming would be better spent on attempts.
  5. Between attempts, you need to try to relax as much as possible in order to gain strength before the next dash to the finish line.
  6. You can not sit down after the start of attempts, because. the baby's head is already on the way out.
  7. It is impossible to squint and grimac during attempts, so you direct efforts to the head - this can cause a headache, blood vessels in the retina can also burst and even brain vessels can be damaged.
  8. It is also wrong to push, directing all the effort to the sphincter area, as if you want to go to the toilet for the most part. This can provoke the appearance of hemorrhoids. As already mentioned, a burning sensation and pain in the birth canal indicates that everything is going as it should. So, during an attempt, if such sensations arise, no matter how cruel it sounds, try to strengthen them - this will speed up the progress of the baby.

Sometimes, after listening to stories of friends and acquaintances giving birth, primiparous women conclude that giving birth to a child is incredibly painful, and attempts are the apotheosis of the process. However, knowing how to push properly and being able to relax in time will help you realize that childbirth is an absolutely physiological process, and nature has done everything possible so that a woman can endure it with minimal damage to herself and her baby. And remember - the best reward for your efforts will be the birth of a long-awaited baby!

Struggles and fights. Main differences

What are contractions

Contractions occur at the very beginning of labor, when the uterus opens. They are harbingers of the fact that soon the baby will be born. These are contractions of the uterus. There is pain in the lower abdomen, at first insignificant and at long intervals. Gradually, their intensity increases, the frequency increases, it seems that it hurts not only in the lower abdomen, but around the entire perimeter. The role of contractions is to open the cervix of the uterus so that the child can pass into it.

What is pushing

Attempts are designed so that the baby can move along the birth canal and leave the mother's body. When attempts begin, the mother's body begins to "work" intensively. This is the climax of childbirth. They can last from half an hour or 40 minutes to several hours. Depends on what kind of childbirth on the account. In primiparas, the entire process of delivery lasts much longer.

A woman will feel the onset of attempts when she needs to push, while she may want to go to the toilet. This happens because the baby presses his head on the rectum and there are natural urges. A woman in this state cannot control herself, so obstetricians are nearby and suggest what to do. Pain is different for everyone. Some women do not feel anything after painful contractions, others, on the contrary, feel pain throughout the body, especially if there are breaks, but in a different way, not like contractions.

How long do pushes last

Attempts is called one of the phases of contractions. She is climactic. During the push, a baby is born. The woman herself cannot always understand that the phase of attempts has come, usually obstetricians say that you need to push. Attempts last from 40 minutes to 2 hours. If a woman gives birth for the first time, then attempts are longer for multiparous women. For 3-5 attempts, the baby comes out. During the first wave, the baby's head comes out, then the shoulders and the whole body. Attempts are considered the most painful part of labor, but many women, due to the fact that their attention is focused on the birth of a child, do not notice this pain, it seems to them that there is no pain at all during attempts or it becomes less.

How to distinguish contractions from attempts

Until the baby comes out of the womb, it's contractions. As soon as the baby comes out, attempts begin. In fact, attempts are a kind of contractions and a certain period in labor. A woman herself will understand and distinguish between these two concepts. Contractions appear at the beginning, open the uterus and bring to attempts. Pushing helps the baby to be born. You don't confuse them. Even the nature of the pain is different. During contractions - aching pain, occurs paroxysmal. Attempts - sometimes they pass painlessly, in the sense that it is more difficult to feel this pain, it is not as sharp as during contractions, and the mother's condition no longer allows one to notice such details. All attention is focused on the appearance of the baby.

How to push when pushing

Experts recommend pressing the chin to the chest during attempts. Spread your legs wide and grab your knees with your hands. Pull your legs as high as possible. Direct all the force to the most painful point, at the moment, to the perineum. If the pain intensifies, then the attempts are happening correctly and the baby is moving along the birth canal.

How to determine that contractions have begun?

You should pay attention to contractions if:
  • The attack of pain lasts 30 seconds or more.
  • Pain sensations are increasing in increasing, and the frequency is also increasing.
  • Some women have a plug of mucus mixed with blood before contractions.
  • There were minor bleeding.
  • Sometimes the water breaks.
After a while, the pain spreads from the lower abdomen to the lower back and intensifies.
Contractions accompany labor activity from beginning to end. Even after the baby is born, they will still be for rejection of the placenta. By the way, when the uterus begins to contract after childbirth, the pains are similar, though not so strong, but still noticeable. Attempts occur only once for a specific purpose and disappear after the birth of the baby.

What causes contractions

Physical activity can trigger contractions. If the pregnancy lasts longer than expected, then you can use various methods to help induce labor, for example:
  • Move more. Walking up the stairs, jumping on a fitball, washing the floor in the apartment, having sex.
  • Eat special foods, such as pineapples, only in raw form, you can squeeze the juice and drink, dates, eggplant, ginger, raspberries, add cinnamon to fermented baked milk.
  • Go for a massage.
  • Drink a glass of champagne.
Mix castor oil with orange juice or apricot, you can add a spoonful of ground almonds and drink. You need to take a couple of tablespoons of castor oil in a glass of juice, some advise at least 100 grams per 250 g of liquid.
Stimulate the nipples. When the nipples are stimulated, the uterus naturally begins to contract, and its tone increases.
Some sources advise to cry well or talk with the child, ask him to be born faster. Some of the tips may seem ridiculous, but they work. By the way, women who want to keep their pregnancy longer should, on the contrary, avoid excessive physical activity and all the manipulations mentioned above.

When the practice fights come

In the third trimester, about a few weeks before the expected date of labor, training or false contractions may occur, in medicine they are called John Braxton-Higgs contractions. They are very reminiscent of generic ones, but they do not last long, they suddenly appear and also go away, they are not regular.

The cork came off when the contractions

It is difficult to pinpoint exactly when contractions will start after the mucus plug has come out. Because every woman is different. From whom it departs immediately in a thick lump, for others gradually for several days with insignificant secretions. In addition, after rejection of the mucous plug, contractions can begin within a few hours, and sometimes days. Therefore, focusing on the mucous plug is not worth it. This, of course, is an accurate harbinger of childbirth, but it can be extended in time.

Why are long contractions dangerous?

Even in ancient times, people knew that childbirth should not be longer than a day, that is, 24 hours. At the present stage, doctors are trying not to allow contractions, and, accordingly, childbirth to last longer than 18 hours for those who are the first time and 12 for those who are not the first. Rather, contractions begin much earlier than childbirth and last for some time after. However, too long this process is harmful to the female body. It can provoke birth injuries, ruptures, swelling of organs, infectious diseases.

How to relieve contractions

Doctors use a special anesthesia called an epidural. However, there are methods to relieve pain during contractions without the help of medications. In particular:
  • Posture change. If you walk around the room during bouts of contractions, or take a more comfortable position, for example, lean on a fitball, then the pain will not be so acutely felt.
  • Back massage. With a relaxing massage, the pain recedes.
  • Warm water. If you immerse yourself in a bath of warm water, then the contractions will not be so painful.
  • Breathe correctly. Breathing exercises help to greatly relieve contractions.

During labor, it is very difficult to remain calm and think about something other than contractions and childbirth, especially if everything is happening for the first time, there is no experience yet, so it is not always possible to follow the recommendations.

Can contractions be stopped?

If the water has not broken, then the contractions themselves can be stopped. Basically, doctors do this with the help of special medicines that relieve tension in the uterus and lower its tone. At home, all you can do is lie down and calm down, take a no-shpu or other antispasmodic, if the intensity of contractions does not decrease, but increases, then more effective means are needed. If the birth is timely, then stopping labor activity does not make any sense, on the contrary, it can only do harm.
Ancestral activity takes place in several stages. The culmination of the process are attempts, they help the baby to be born. In the modern world, many expectant mothers decide to anesthetize childbirth, but the specifics of anesthesia are quite complicated and require high qualifications, doctors' mistakes can be expensive.

Childbirth is a difficult and dangerous process that requires a woman to follow certain rules. If you act as doctors advise, pain can be significantly reduced. Everything is important: from a comfortable position of the body, arms and legs to rhythmic breathing. It is necessary to start working even before the moment of attempts. What does this concept mean and how are attempts different from contractions?

Attempts: what is it?

The medical term "pull" means a reflex contraction of the abdominal and uterine muscles, supported by the work of the diaphragm, with which the body pushes the fetus out. A woman is not able to influence the course of this stage of childbirth, since everything happens completely automatically. Attempts begin after the fetal head has turned in the right direction and presses on the cervix, which must be prepared and maximally opened.

Reflex muscle contractions begin involuntarily, their arrival cannot be delayed or stopped at will, but they can still be controlled. When describing attempts, women often use the concept of "pushing", as they somewhat resemble the process of defecation.

Pregnant women are often afraid that they will not be able to give birth to a child on their own. Fears are in vain, nature is arranged in such a way that all processes during childbirth follow one after another in the correct order and occur automatically. In case of unforeseen complications, the doctors of the operating team and the obstetrician taking the baby are on duty next to the woman in labor.

How are pushing different from contractions?

For the first time, women giving birth do not always understand the difference between attempts and contractions. Both processes are aimed at helping the baby to be born, complement each other and occur sequentially.

During contractions, a woman cannot control her muscles. A woman in labor needs to take a comfortable position and try to catch the rhythm, helping her body. Proper breathing will help reduce pain. Between contractions, you should try to relax and give a little rest to the body.

At the stage of preparatory contractions, the pain is not very strong, it develops on the rise. At this time, the cervix opens.

When the uterus is prepared for childbirth, the pushing of the fetus through the birth canal begins. This is the second stage of childbirth, at which the contractions become much stronger, more painful. Next come the attempts, which can be restrained or intensified, following the instructions of the midwife. She monitors the movement of the fetus and helps the process by determining if the baby is born normally.

When do pushes start and how long do they last?

It is not worth being afraid that at the first contractions labor will immediately begin and the fetus will appear. The process of childbirth is quite long (rapid labor in nulliparous women is extremely rare). Attempts appear immediately before its final stage.

The duration of the attempts themselves for all women in labor varies, but they are always shorter than contractions. How long the process will last depends not only on the intensity of labor, but also on the woman's ability to control herself and relax. With the first pregnancy, which passes without complications, they last about 2 hours. Subsequent labors for most women are a little faster, and the duration of attempts can be reduced to 30 minutes.

One push lasts about 15 seconds. The break between attempts is about 3 minutes, during which time it is necessary to try to restore breathing. You should not resist the reactions of the body, restrain yourself when trying, this will only delay the process. To prevent involuntary defecation from tension during childbirth, women are given an enema beforehand, so there is nothing to fear.

The actions of a woman in labor during attempts

During attempts, the woman in labor should listen to the obstetrician and follow his advice. It is important to learn the breathing technique in advance, and if this is not done, try to breathe as recommended by the doctor. Sometimes the process of childbirth needs to be slowed down, then you will need to relax as much as possible and breathe shortly and often. This shallow breathing will help you relax a bit. Complete relaxation is the key to a successful delivery.

It is necessary to make efforts at the moment at which the peak of the attempt falls (that is, it becomes as strong as possible). Breathing should remain even and smooth. It is harmful for a woman in labor to scream during childbirth - a lot of effort is spent on this.

Types of behavior when trying

A woman can choose the type of behavior in childbirth herself at a preliminary consultation with her doctor. It is worth doing this in advance so that there is time to prepare and train proper breathing. There are two options for behavior when trying:

  • natural;
  • controlled.

With the natural type, a woman trusts her own body and does not control her attempts. The doctor monitors the course of the process and helps to adapt to the situation. The main task of a woman in labor is to relax and help her body do everything as it is required, without holding back labor attempts.

This type of behavior is suitable for those who give birth not for the first time, they tolerate pregnancy well. In this case, the fetus must be correctly positioned, that is, turned head down.

The controlled type of behavior is more suitable for those who give birth for the first time and are very afraid of doing something wrong. In this case, it is better to completely trust the doctor and follow his recommendations. During attempts, the woman in labor is given a signal when to push. Thus, the obstetrician can synchronize the actions of the woman with the progress of the fetus.

Proper breathing

The most important thing in the process of attempts is to control your breathing. Sharp breaths are unacceptable, the diaphragm should move smoothly. The period of deep breathing alternates with superficial, the so-called canine. The algorithm of actions is as follows:

  1. at the beginning of attempts, take a deep slow breath and hold your breath;
  2. at this moment, the hips, buttocks and face are as relaxed as possible;
  3. the abdominal muscles at this moment should be strained as much as possible;
  4. during an attempt, the pressure in the abdominal muscles should be directed to the lower abdomen towards the perineum;
  5. after a few seconds, at the sign of the doctor, you can relax.

With proper rhythmic breathing during attempts, a woman helps her child go through the birth canal. The exhalation should be strong and smooth, since it is at this moment that the fetus is moving forward, and sharp shocks are harmful to it. It is important to relax in between attempts, so that the woman has enough strength to complete labor.

Possibility of complications

Childbirth in women lasts several hours, in difficult cases up to a day. One of the frequent complications of this process is weak labor activity. It can manifest itself both at the stage of contractions, and with attempts. In this case, only the muscles of the abdominal cavity are involved in the process of pushing the child out.

This pathology is typical for overweight women or women who have given birth many times. Those who suffer from various diseases of the abdominal cavity have a predisposition to weak labor activity. In the case of weak labor activity, the obstetrician may prescribe medications that can increase attempts.

Due to improper breathing of a woman in childbirth, a baby can get a head injury. With a sharp active breath, the child is pulled back into the birth canal, while the risk of injury is high. That is why women in labor are strongly advised not to scream during attempts.

If a woman in labor is pushing out of time, then there is a danger of damaging her own muscles, ligaments and bones. The baby in the stomach in this case is deprived of oxygen and can also suffer. The early onset of attempts with insufficient opening of the cervix leads to ruptures in a woman and delays the entire process of childbirth.

A quick birth is no less dangerous than a prolonged one. If a woman starts pushing before the cervix has dilated, this leads to uterine ruptures, which complicates the whole process of childbirth. The rapid advancement of the fetus through the birth canal is fraught with numerous tears in the vagina and perineum, leads to dangerous bleeding in a woman and various sprains and injuries in a child.

Many pregnant women are terribly afraid of attempts, considering them the most terrible moment of childbirth. It is important for a woman to get rid of this fear, because it will prevent her from relaxing and calmly following the doctor's recommendations, which is extremely necessary during childbirth. That is why it is necessary to prepare for the birth process, for example, by attending special courses for pregnant women.

How and why to regulate attempts - one of the most serious physical stresses during childbirth? What does the push mechanism look like? And why is it important to listen to the midwife during childbirth?

What is pushing

Attempts are contractions of the abdominal press, which take place reflexively, join contractions and proceed synchronously with them. During this period, the fetal head begins to put pressure on the nerve endings that are in the cervix and in the pelvic muscles.

After full or almost full disclosure of the cervix, water is poured out. For a short time, the contractions weaken, and then intensify again - because the walls of the uterus are now more closely in contact with the fetus.

The contractions of the press join the contractions, and the expectant mother feels like pushing. The intrauterine pressure rises, and the baby begins to perform many complex actions, while pressing on the pelvic floor. And mom feels the urge to push more and more.

Attempts are repeated with increasing frequency, the interval between them is reduced to 2-3 minutes.

Struggles and pushes

Contractions and attempts for those who have not yet given birth seem to be something terrible. In fact, there is no cause for alarm - after all, the female body itself knows what it needs to do when a child is born.

1.5-2 weeks before the baby is born, the expectant mother feels “training” contractions. But when real contractions begin, they can no longer be confused with anything. Features:

  • contractions are regular;
  • their frequency is increasing;
  • with each contraction, the pain gets worse.

And before childbirth, attempts begin, accompanying contractions. This means that the baby has already begun to move along the birth canal.

Weak labor during childbirth

It happens that the mother may not even feel the attempts. Of course, this is not very good for labor. The reasons for weak attempts can be:

  • weakened abdominal muscles in mothers who have repeatedly given birth;
  • physiological features: obesity, umbilical and inguinal hernia;
  • diseases of the nervous system: poliomyelitis, myasthenia gravis;
  • spinal injury;
  • crowded intestines and bladder;
  • fear of pain;
  • severe fatigue of the mother.

Why regulate pushing during childbirth

The pushing period for the expectant mother and baby is considered traumatic. It is with attempts that there is a risk of “earning” ruptures of the vagina, perineum, and cervix. Crumbly strong unregulated attempts threaten to disrupt intracranial circulation. After all, the head of a baby moving through the natural birth canal faster than necessary is subjected to strong pressure from the walls of the birth canal.

The mechanism of attempts: what, where and how?

Usually the expectant mother lies on her back. The legs are bent at the knees, spread apart and rest on the stands. The head end of the bed is raised to a semi-sitting position. Sometimes girls ready for childbirth lie on their side with their hips apart or take a vertical squatting position. By the way, with "vertical birth" attempts, as a rule, are more effective.

At the time of childbirth, accompanied by attempts, you should be on a bed that has special devices for supporting arms and legs.

Listening to the midwife at the time of birth

At the time of birth, the midwife advises on how best to behave in order to avoid injury.

  • Physicians at certain points will advise you to either push or breathe shallowly and often with your mouth open to ease the effort, since it is impossible to push with such breathing.
  • Any attempt that is effective at your full concentration. Shouts and groans only reduce attention and weaken attempts.
  • Take a deep breath during the fight and, holding your breath for 10-15 seconds, tilting your head to your chest, apply your efforts to the bottom - as in the act of defecation. During each contraction, repeat these efforts 2-3 times.

With the right behavior of the expectant mother, attempts are effective, and childbirth ends safely with the birth of a baby without consequences for your health.

Breathing while pushing

This is an opportunity to give birth to a baby without consequences in the form of tears and cuts. To do this, you need to listen to the words of the gynecologist and midwife.
