Head of the department: , cardiologist, therapist, candidate of medical sciences.

The modern model of "management" of cardiological patients dictates the need to create specialized departments in a multidisciplinary hospital. This makes it possible to provide modern medical care to patients with the entire spectrum of diseases of the cardiovascular system in a single medical institution. The cardiology department has been operating since November 2006 and currently meets all modern requirements for departments in this area. Our Center provides diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular diseases according to international protocols.

The staff is represented by competent, highly qualified, certified cardiologists.

The Department of Cardiology with the Resuscitation and Intensive Care Unit works in close connection with related departments working in the diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. If indicated, patients undergo coronary angiography, shuntography, ventriculography. If necessary, percutaneous interventions (balloon angioplasty and stenting of the coronary arteries) are performed. In addition, within the framework of our center, the patient can perform such surgical interventions as implantation of a pacemaker, radiofrequency ablation of an arrhythmogenic focus, and more; and interaction with cardiovascular surgeons performing open heart and vascular surgery.

The number of treated patients is steadily growing every year, which indicates the constant improvement of diagnostic and treatment methods, which can reduce the total length of stay of patients in the hospital.

The department provides assistance to patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular diseases:

  • Ischemic heart disease:
    • stable angina;
    • Postinfarction cardiosclerosis;
    • unstable angina;
    • Myocardial infarction.
  • Heart rhythm and conduction disorders;
  • Insufficiency of blood circulation;
  • Arterial hypertension, including hypertensive crises;
  • Cardiomyopathy: dilated, hypertrophic, restrictive;
  • Infective endocarditis;
  • Thromboembolism of the pulmonary artery;
  • Myocarditis, pericarditis.

Diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases is carried out in accordance with modern recommendations in the field of cardiology and from the standpoint of evidence-based medicine.

Also, in our department you can undergo a cardio-check with an assessment of the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, including stroke.

In our hospital, patients undergo various diagnostic examinations, such as:

  • electrocardiography;
  • 24 and 48-hour (Holter) ECG monitoring;
  • 24-hour blood pressure monitoring;
  • arteriography;
  • Stress ECG tests (veloergometry, treadmill test, test with dipyridamole);
  • Echocardiography (Doppler ECHO-KG, transesophageal ECHO-KG);
  • Stress-ECHO-KG with stress tests and with drug tests;
  • Doppler ultrasound and duplex scanning of the main and peripheral arteries and veins;
  • Coronary angiography, angiography of other vascular pools;
  • Invasive electrophysiological studies;
  • Computed tomography (CT);
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI);
  • Radionuclide study (myocardial scintigraphy at rest and with exercise, lungs, thyroid gland, skeleton, etc.);
  • Night pulse oximetry, study of nasopharyngeal flow;
  • polysomnography;
  • All types of laboratory diagnostics;
  • Consultation of related specialists, if necessary.

Treatment options

Therapeutic (drug, physiotherapy, psychotherapy). In the medical treatment of patients, drugs are used that have successfully passed a number of clinical trials and have proven their effectiveness in treating millions of people.

Endovascular methods for the treatment of arrhythmias (catheter radiofrequency ablation, including atrial fibrillation), coronary artery disease (balloon angioplasty, stenting).

Implantation of pacemakers, including those with a resynchronization function, defibrillators-cardioverters.

Surgical (coronary bypass grafting (CABG), correction of congenital heart defects, prosthetics and reconstruction of heart valves, prosthetics of arteries, aorta, plastics of post-infarction aneurysms, microsurgical operations on veins).

The priority of our Center is a comprehensive, individual approach to treatment: in addition to a cardiologist, other leading specialists of all areas are involved.

Treatment and examination of patients is carried out in comfortable conditions. Currently, the department has 15 wards designed for 1-4 patients, including superior comfort wards (1- and 2-bed wards).

A separate structure of our department is the resuscitation and intensive care unit (RIIT) for cardiological patients, intended for primary admission and provision of specialized medical care to patients with acute cardiac pathology.

Main areas of work of PRIT

  • Reception and treatment of patients with acute coronary syndrome, including emergency and early invasive interventions - coronary angiography and coronary stenting (work is provided by close cooperation with the Department of X-ray surgical methods of diagnosis and treatment);
  • Admission and treatment of patients with rhythm and conduction disorders of the heart, including emergency and planned cardioversions and temporary pacing;
  • Admission and treatment of patients with pulmonary embolism complicated by hypertensive crises, acute and chronic heart failure and other acute or decompensated chronic cardiovascular diseases.

PRIT staff is a highly qualified team that combines professionalism, an individual approach to each patient, kindness and attention to patients and their relatives in their work.

Preliminary internal and on-line consultations of patients and documents are possible.

For referral to the Pirogov Center, a standard referral for a consultation is sufficient (for example, form 057U or any other form accepted in your institution).

If you have been diagnosed with a cardiovascular disease - sign up for a consultation with our doctors.

Clinical Observations

  • Atypical angina: features of diagnosis and treatment
  • Possibilities of treatment of myocardial infarction and its complications in a multidisciplinary hospital
  • Obstructive sleep apnea as a mask for sick sinus syndrome
  • Myocardial infarction as a "mask" of urgent surgical pathology
