Pimafucin side effects. Instructions for use of pimafucin tablets - composition, indications, side effects, analogues and price. Indications for use Pimafucin

  • pills;
  • vaginal capsules;
  • cream.
The active substance of the drug is natamycin. Natamycin is an antimycotic drug, a broad-spectrum antibiotic. Natamycin acts on the fungal cell membrane, increasing its permeability and destroying its structure, which leads to cell death. Natamycin is effective against most pathogenic fungi. Highly effective against Candida albicans. Less effective against dermatophytes. No cases of resistance to natamycin have been reported.

The medication does not cause allergies. Not a single case of allergy has been reported with the use of pimafucin. Pimafucin tablets, thanks to a special coating, dissolve only in the intestines. Pimafucin is active when used topically. Practically not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, through the skin or mucous membranes.

Pimafucin vaginal capsules are successfully used in the treatment of vaginal candidiasis (thrush). The therapeutic effect of the drug is also observed in vaginal discharge, inflammation and itching. With vaginal administration of suppositories, the drug acquires a foamy texture, due to which the active ingredient evenly and completely covers the inner surface of the vagina. Modern methods of biochemical studies of tissues have shown the complete absence of natamycin, used vaginally, in the blood and other body fluids. Also, its metabolites were not detected. This indicates the absence of a systemic effect of the drug.

Tablets Fungal infectious pathologies of the skin and mucous membranes. Among them:

  • candidiasis of the oral mucosa (pseudomembranous, atrophic) in persons with general atrophy, weakened immunity, as well as after a long course of antibiotics, glucocorticoids or cytostatic drugs;
  • mycosis of the external auditory canal (primary fungal, or in combination with Candida albicans infection);
  • candidiasis of the skin and nails;
  • intestinal candidiasis;
  • vaginitis, vulvitis, vulvovaginitis, inflammation of the head of the penis, caused by infection with fungi of the genus Candida;
  • fungal diseases of the skin;
  • in combination with griseofulvin in the treatment of fungal skin diseases.

Vaginal capsules

Vaginitis, vulvitis, vulvovaginitis, developed as a result of infection with fungi of the genus Candida.

Fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes. Among them:

  • vulvitis, vulvovaginitis, balanitis, developed as a result of infection with fungi of the genus Candida;
  • candidiasis of the skin and nails;
  • otitis externa (primary fungal, or in combination with an infection of fungi of the genus Candida);
  • fungal diseases of the skin.
Intolerance to the components of the drug. From the gastrointestinal tract: in rare cases, with oral use of tablets, especially at the beginning of the course of therapy, nausea and indigestion are possible, usually self-limiting and do not require discontinuation of treatment. Local manifestations: rarely - irritation, burning sensation (cream and vaginal capsules). To date, not a single case of overdose with Pimafucin has been registered. Tablets For intestinal candidiasis, adults - one tablet 4 times a day. Children - one tablet 2 times a day. The duration of the course for all age groups is 6-8 days.

Vaginal capsules

With vaginitis, vulvitis, vulvovaginitis - one capsule per day, immediately before bedtime. The capsule is injected as deeply as possible, in a horizontal position of the body. Course duration - 3-6 days. With vaginitis complicated by Candida albicans infection, additional use of Pimafucin tablets (one tablet 4 times a day for 1-3 weeks) is recommended to destroy candida in the intestine. With the elimination of the symptoms of the disease, it is necessary to continue therapy for several more days.

With vulvitis, vulvovaginitis, balanitis, the infected surface is treated with a cream 1-4 times a day. With the complication of the above diseases with Candida albicans infection, tablets or vaginal capsules of Pimafucin are additionally indicated. In case of fungal diseases of the skin (including candidiasis of the skin and nails, intertrigo in children), the infected areas are treated with cream 1-4 times a day. With external otomycosis, a cream is applied to the infected areas 1-4 times a day. Before applying the cream, the ear is cleaned. After applying the cream, a cotton or wool swab is inserted into the ear canal. The duration of the course is calculated individually. After the symptoms of the pathology have been eliminated, it is necessary to extend the course for a few more days. When heated, the vaginal capsules quickly dissolve, acquiring a foamy texture, due to which the drug evenly and completely covers the inner surface of the vagina. In the chronic or recurrent form of the disease, in combination with vaginal suppositories, Pimafucin tablets and cream are indicated.

Etal contained in vaginal capsules may cause some burning sensation in the genital area if this substance is intolerant. During menstruation, treatment with vaginal capsules is canceled. During therapy with capsules, sexual intercourse is permissible. However, it is necessary to examine both partners. If a Candida albicans infection is detected, the partner must also undergo therapy. Also during the course it is necessary to use barrier contraception.

Pimafucin is approved for use in newborns. Dermatomycosis of the skin, as a rule, develops in the folds (often in overweight people), between the phalanges, in the corners of the mouth, under the mammary glands, in the groin area. In people with diabetes, the development of ulcers, especially on the feet, is also due to the vital activity of infectious fungi. With candidiasis of the skin, it is necessary to treat the affected areas with Pimafucin cream 2-3 times a day. Considering that this pathology often recurs, it is recommended to use Pimafucin tablets in combination with the cream. Candidiasis worsens in most women already in the first trimester of pregnancy. Depending on the severity of the symptoms of the disease, on the pathogen, as well as on the duration of pregnancy, gynecologists recommend various drugs.

Pimafucin is one of the antifungal drugs approved for use during pregnancy and lactation. The active component of the drug - natamycin - is practically not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, through the skin and mucous membranes. It is also not found in blood and other biological fluids (including breast milk).

However, the opinion of doctors about the use of this drug during pregnancy often diverges. Many gynecologists consider Pimafucin to be an outdated and ineffective drug in comparison with newer antifungal agents, and some even consider it dangerous and recommend resorting to it only if absolutely necessary. In addition, for many women it does not help at all, and in rare cases, it aggravates the course of the disease. And yet, most gynecologists recommend Pimafucin as one of the safest antifungal drugs, in particular for pregnant and lactating women. As a rule, doctors recommend vaginal suppositories as the most convenient and safe dosage form of the drug. Store in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, out of the reach of children, at a temperature below 25 degrees. Shelf life - 48 months. Clinical trials of the antifungal agent Pimafucin involved women with various types of vaginitis caused by protists, fungi and opportunistic microorganisms. The effectiveness of the drug was confirmed in all the tests. The best results were obtained in the treatment of vaginitis caused by Candida albicans infection (83-95%). The test results showed the high efficiency of Pimafucin in the treatment of recurrent forms of candidiasis and a decrease in the number of fungi of the genus Candida in the rectum after using the oral form of the drug. This study was carried out by the Scientific Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (Moscow). The study involved 32 women in the first trimester of pregnancy. All women had severe symptoms of candidal vaginitis. Patients received one vaginal capsule (0.1 g of natamycin) once a day at bedtime. The duration of the course was 6 days. In parallel, women took Pimafucin in the form of tablets - 4 tablets per day, for 5 days. All women were contraindicated in sexual intercourse for 15-20 days.

On the 2nd-3rd day of treatment, all patients noted an improvement in well-being and a decrease in the severity of symptoms. At the end of treatment, the main symptoms of vaginitis were eliminated in 30 patients: vaginal discharge, vascular overflow, mucosal edema, itching and burning. The final microbiological examination of vaginal discharge showed the absence of fungal cells and spores.

Also, the patients improved their health and tone, the condition of the fetus, the symptoms of a threatened miscarriage were eliminated.

Unsatisfactory results of therapy were noted in patients who had been ill for a long time with recurrent candidal vaginitis and had repeatedly taken various antifungal medications. This, in turn, could contribute to the development of insensitivity of the infection to traditionally used drugs.

Thus, as a result of the treatment of candidal vaginitis with Pimafucin, complete recovery was recorded in the vast majority of pregnant women. This indicates the high efficacy of the drug in the treatment of candidal vaginitis. In addition, the absence of an embryotoxic effect of the drug, as well as a negative effect on the fetus, was noted. Ekaterina, 28 years old, Irkutsk At the 5th month of pregnancy, my candidiasis worsened (although it had not worsened for 2 years before). I ate sweets - and literally the next day, familiar symptoms appeared. Apparently pregnancy played a decisive role, after all, the hormonal background has changed. The gynecologist prescribed vaginal suppositories, which should not be used by pregnant women, so I had to look for a normal remedy myself. On the medical site I read about Pimafucin. One of the few drugs in the form of vaginal suppositories that is not contraindicated during pregnancy. The package contains 3 and 6 capsules. I bought a package with three capsules - it cost me 300 rubles. Used as directed before bed. The capsules are soft and very fragile, so you need to carefully pull them out, otherwise they may burst in your hands. The whole next day, the contents of the capsules flowed out, which created a lot of discomfort - I had to change three daily doses. But by the evening I already felt relief - the itching and burning sensation disappeared. Well, I decided to fix the effect, and used the two remaining capsules - I had to suffer for two days. As a result, it helped - the symptoms did not resume, and after the birth everything was in order. But then I decided to abstain from sweets. The product is good, I recommend it to everyone.

Anna, 36 years old, Moscow

Pimafucin has saved me more than once during pregnancy. The tool is completely harmless, has no side effects. Capsules are administered simply and without problems - no pain occurs. Perhaps this is one of the few drugs that can be safely used without a doctor's prescription, without risking either one's own health or the health of the child. True, there is one feature - during pregnancy, Pimafucin saves only for a certain period of time, because. the microbiocenosis of the vagina normalizes only after childbirth (at least it was so for me). Either way, this is the best product I've tried. Therefore, I advise you to try, and do not be afraid of the price - it's worth it.

Svetlana, 32 years old, Kharkiv

I bought Pimafucin after my candidiasis worsened after treatment with Vaginorm-S vaginal capsules. It costs a lot, of course, but I still decided to buy it. Then I decided not to breed amateur performances, and follow the recommendations of my gynecologist, so I bought a pack of 6 candles. I had to pay 500 rubles for it. The capsules are dense, and do not spread in the hands, as often happens. Introduced them for 6 days, one a day before bedtime. There were no side effects, thank God. True, during the treatment, the medicine constantly leaked out, I had to change several pads. But this is perhaps the only negative.

The symptoms began to disappear already on the second day, and by the 6th day there was no trace of them. A week after the end of the course, she passed a smear - everything is clean, no infection. Therefore, I can say with confidence - the drug is wonderful, try it - you will not regret it.

Pimafucin - will help in difficult times - Polyene antibiotics

Polyene antibiotics

Polyene antibiotics are naturally occurring antifungals produced by various microorganisms. Their mechanism of action is that they bind strongly to ergosterol (a biologically active substance contained in fungal cells) of the fungal cell membrane, violating the integrity of the membrane, which leads to cell destruction. Polyene antibiotics are active against most pathogenic fungi and some protozoa, such as Trichomonas, Leishmania and Amoebas. Polyenes are resistant to fungi that cause trichophytosis and microsporia (ringworm).

All polyenes are practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract when taken orally, as well as from the surface of intact skin and mucous membranes when applied topically. The first antibiotics of this series were nystatin and levorin, which had a lot of side effects. Pimafucin belongs to the last generations of polyenes.

The mechanism of action of pimafucin

Pimafucin (international non-proprietary name - natamycin) is an antifungal broad-spectrum polyene antibiotic from the macrolide group. Pimafucin binds sterols of cell membranes, violating their integrity and function, which leads to the death of microorganisms. Most pathogenic yeast fungi (including Candida genus) are sensitive to this antifungal antibiotic. Fungi that cause trichophytosis, microsporia and epidermophytosis (ringworm and fungal infections of the skin of the feet) are less sensitive to it. The addiction of infectious agents to pimafucin does not occur.

Pimafucin is practically not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract (due to the enteric coating, it acts only in the intestine), from the surface of the skin and mucous membranes.

Pimafucin is used to treat fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes of the intestines, ear, skin, nails, and genital organs. It is produced in the form of tablets for oral administration, vaginal suppositories, creams and suspensions for external use. Candles under the influence of body temperature quickly dissolve, forming a volumetrically spreading foamy mass, which contributes to a uniform distribution of the active substance.

Indications and contraindications for use

Indications for taking pimafucin are fungal diseases of the skin and mucous membranes caused by microorganisms sensitive to it (including in pregnant women, nursing mothers and newborns):

  • candidiasis against the background of a decrease in the protective properties of the body (immunity), including with long-term use of hormonal contraceptives and certain drugs that suppress the immune system (for example, used to treat tumors);
  • candidiasis caused by taking antibiotics;
  • ear candidiasis;
  • candidiasis of the skin and nails;
  • intestinal candidiasis;
  • genital candidiasis;
  • dermatomycosis, including epidermophytosis of the skin of the feet.

A contraindication for taking pimafucin is hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Side effects in the treatment of pimafucin

When taking pimafucin orally in the first days of treatment, nausea and loosening of the stool are possible, which pass on their own and do not require discontinuation of the drug. With external use and the use of suppositories, mild irritation, a burning sensation on the skin and mucous membranes are possible. Alcohol, which is part of vaginal suppositories, can cause an allergic reaction.

How to use pimafucin

Tablets are used in the treatment of intestinal candidiasis, one tablet four times a day for seven days.

In the treatment of fungal diseases of the ear, the external auditory canal is cleaned, a cream is applied (once or twice a day) and a tampon made of natural material (for example, cotton, which absorbs liquid well) is placed in the auditory canal.

In the treatment of candidiasis of the genital organs, pimafucin is used in suppositories (one suppository per day for seven days), during menstruation the treatment is interrupted. Sexual intercourse during the treatment period is not contraindicated provided that both partners are treated.

For fungal diseases of the skin and nails, a cream and suspension are used, which are applied to the affected surface of the skin and nails once or twice a day.

Pimafucin is a high-quality antifungal drug that has almost no side effects. It is produced by a pharmaceutical company for Astellas Pharma Europe B.V. (Netherlands).

Pimafucin, as an antifungal antibiotic, is a broad-spectrum drug. The active substance of Pimafucin, Natamycin, has a fungicidal effect and leads to the death of fungal cells.

The majority of pathogenic yeast fungi are sensitive to the active substance Pimafucin. Dermatophytes are weakly sensitive to the component.

Side effects

Among the side effects of Pimafucin note:

  • slight burning sensation in the area of application of suppositories;
  • slight irritation of surrounding tissues;
  • nausea, short-term lack of appetite in the first days of admission;

In the reviews on the use of Pimafucin candles, they say that the standard prescription regimen is not always effective. In this case, the treatment can be supplemented with an oral form. The duration of the therapeutic course is ten days. To enhance the effect of therapeutic measures, a mild form of the remedy is prescribed. In the instructions and reviews of the Pimafucin ointment, they claim that it has proven effective in destroying fungal infections of the skin of the partner's genitals. A tampon is used to introduce the drug into the middle section. Its surface is abundantly smeared with cream and gently inserted into the ear canal.

Contraindications

The main obstacle to treatment may be individual intolerance to the active component. In this case, we are talking about natamycin. Another contraindication, which is indicated in the instructions for use of Pimafucin tablets and in reviews, is porphyria.

Special cases

Uniform distribution of natamycin contained in suppositories over the inner surface of the vagina is ensured by foaming excipients under the influence of natural body temperature. In some cases, this drug can be included in the complex therapy plan for dermatomycosis of various origins.

Burning and irritation of the vaginal mucosa, which appear during the use of suppositories, occur due to the addition of the drug to the composition of the drug. In the composition of the drug, its share is insignificant, but sensitive patients may feel tingling and dryness. This is stated in the reviews of the Pimafucin candles.

If the fungal infection recurs after a certain period of time after the use of suppositories, then the appointment of an oral form of natamycin is recommended. During menstruation, candles are not used, since their effectiveness is minimal. During the course of the therapeutic course, partners are advised to use barrier contraception and undergo a thorough examination by specialized specialists.

Women who use suppositories do not need to give up their sexual life. The safety of the active substance has been proven. Therefore, natamycin is prescribed for the treatment of newborns. One suppository contains 100 mg of natamycin. The drug has practically no systemic effect on the body. If during use a pronounced burning sensation appears, you should stop using this remedy and seek additional advice from your doctor.

"Primafungin" is sold in pharmacies without a prescription. Its price is about 200 rubles. List of indications:

  • inflammation of the vulva;
  • vaginitis regardless of etiology;
  • damage to the skin and mucous membranes by fungi of the Candida family.

"Pimafukort"

This drug is considered an analogue of Pimafucin. The reviews and instructions say that it also includes neomycin and hydrocortisone. These components provide a complex therapeutic effect. The drug is produced by the Italian pharmaceutical company Temmler Italia S.r.L.

According to the manufacturer's description, this remedy has a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect. It perfectly fights fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes. Used externally. Packed in cardboard boxes. The metal tube contains 15 g of cream.

"Pimafukort" is not a complete analogue of "Pimafucin", the instructions for use, in the reviews about this, are different. It says that the level of absorption of hydrocortisone through the skin without wound lesions is three percent. If the integrity of the epidermis is violated, this value doubles. If there is an infection on the skin, then the degree of absorption reaches 15%.

When using "Pimafucort" in the treatment of children, it should be borne in mind that their susceptibility is higher than that of adults. The older the child, the lower the absorption rate. There are few side effects. In reviews of Pimafucin and Pimafucort, some patients with sensitive skin insist that they feel a pronounced burning sensation and dryness of the skin on which the ointment was applied. Localized redness was noted. Sometimes women complained of itching.

If you note one of the above actions associated with taking Pimafukort, then we are talking about the manifestation of allergic reactions. In this case, the therapeutic course is canceled, and the drug must be replaced. True, usually these symptoms subside on the third day of using the cream. Similar moments are described by patients in their reviews of Pimafucin.

With prolonged use of the cream in children, a syndrome of suppression of the action of the adrenal cortex is diagnosed. Such a reaction is rare and only in those patients who applied occlusive dressings and applied the agent to large areas of the skin.

Instructions for use

When using "Pimafukort" in the eyelid area, you need to remember about the possibility of increasing intraocular pressure, which can lead to the further development of cataracts. In the therapeutic treatment of open wound surfaces, the risk of toxic effects is allowed. The reviews about "Pimafucin", produced in a mild form, talk about the safety of the drug for children.

"Pimafukort" can also be used in pediatrics, but under the supervision of a doctor. The list of indications includes all kinds of dermatoses, complications after fungal and bacterial infections. Contraindications include juvenile acne, anogenital itching, allergic reactions to the introduction of allergic vaccination vaccines. Do not use the cream for ichthyosis, the presence of open wound surfaces, viral diseases of the epidermis.

"Pimafukort" is prescribed with caution to children under one year old. And in the instructions, reviews of "Pimafucin" confirm this, there is no such restriction. The interaction of "Pimafucort" with other drugs is not described. Cross-type hypersensitivity has been reported when using neomycin with paromomycin, kanamycin, aminoglycosides, gentamicin.

Dosage

Adults and adolescents apply the cream twice a day. The course of treatment should not exceed fourteen days. Pimafukort ointment is the number one choice for the treatment of dermatoses. Occlusive dressings are contraindicated in small children. There were no cases of drug overdose.

Doctors admit the possibility of toxic effects when applying the cream to the surface of the middle ear, provided that the integrity of the eardrum is damaged. In this case, "Pimafucin" is recommended. User reviews confirm the absence of side effects. To enhance the effect of exposure, other forms of the drug are used.

The active substance natamycin is insoluble in water. It is produced in the form of a powder, which has a yellowish or white color. Pimafucin is a drug aimed at eliminating fungal diseases. Its chemical composition is dominated by natamycin, an antibiotic from the macrolide group. This active substance paralyzes the cell membranes of pathogenic fungi, thereby suppressing their activity, and when the dose is increased, it completely destroys the pathogenic environment of the body.

Such types of fungi as Candida, as well as Trichomonas are especially sensitive to this antibiotic. However, it is fair to note here that pathogens such as trichophytosis, mycospores, as well as torulopsis, aspergillus, may be less susceptible to the effects of this drug. Pimafucin is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, skin and mucous membranes.

Due to the wide spectrum of action, this medication is produced in various pharmacological versions, in particular, in the form of Pimafucin cream, suspension for external use, vaginal suppositories and tablets. The acceptable form of release depends on the specifics of the disease, and a detailed annotation to the drug describes the options for its use in all therapeutic combinations.

Of the analogues of Pimafucin, Natamycin, Primafungin and Terzhinan can be noted.

Pimafucin: Indications and contraindications for the use of the drug

It is important to note that Pimafucin is indicated exclusively for the treatment of fungal infections of various origins and areas of localization, in particular, integumentary tissues and mucous membranes, internal organs. The medication is prescribed to eliminate diseases such as otomycosis, vulvitis, vulvovaginitis, intestinal candidiasis.

The good news is that this antibiotic is very often included in the treatment regimen during pregnancy and lactation, and the list of contraindications is limited solely by individual intolerance to the individual components of Pimafucin.

Pimafucin side effects and overdose

Cases of overdose have not been found, however, side effects may worsen during treatment, but mainly at an early stage of administration. Nausea, diarrhea and skin rashes are possible, in the case of using vaginal suppositories or cream, a slight burning sensation upon contact with Pimafucin is also not excluded.

Instructions for use of the drug Pimafucin

The appointment of Pimafucin should be carried out exclusively by the attending physician, since it contains an antibiotic. In addition, the treatment course and daily dosage can vary significantly depending on the nature of the pathology, the degree of its neglect and the characteristics of the patient's body. The detailed instructions for Pimafucin indicate all treatment options with a detailed description of the use of the drug.

Features of the use of the drug Pimafucin

With an increase in body temperature, vaginal suppositories quickly dissolve, forming a homogeneous mass, which evenly spreads over the affected area. If the disease has been modified into a chronic stage, then the use of Pimafucin alone will not be enough for a speedy recovery, therefore, other antibacterial drugs are additionally introduced into the complex treatment regimen.

During menstruation, the introduction of Pimafucin vaginal suppositories must be temporarily suspended. In addition, it is important to understand that such treatment requires a complete rejection of sexual intercourse, and if an infection is detected in a sexual partner, intensive care should concern both.

Reviews about the drug Pimafucin

If we talk about the effectiveness of this drug, then, to be honest, it raises significant doubts, since in most clinical cases Pimafucin in any performance demonstrates a mediocre result, and is not able to completely eliminate the characteristic disease.

It so happens that most of the reviews about Pimafucin, regarding its action in the body, are left by future mothers who are recommended for the treatment of thrush. Almost no one managed to cure candidiasis completely, so many women arbitrarily stopped such treatment, turning to alternative medicine recipes.

Some doctors have stopped prescribing Pimafucin, considering it an obsolete and useless drug, but they still recommend it during pregnancy, since it does not have a pathological effect on the fetus.

In general, the reviews for Pimafucin are negative, and this drug cannot be considered a panacea for fungal infections, and when prescribing it, you need to think again whether it is worth wasting time and spending money on such therapy.

The price of Pimafucin cream 30.0 2% from 230 rubles.
