NII OMM: description, activities

The Ural Research Institute for the Protection of Motherhood and Infancy was established on the initiative of employees of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. The clinic is one of the oldest institutions in the country where they provide assistance during pregnancy and childbirth. Five years ago, this medical facility turned one hundred and thirty-five years old.

At the beginning of its existence, it was a small maternity hospital. Over the entire long period of development, the clinic has significantly improved the methods and means of providing assistance to pregnant women, women in labor and newborns. The main goals of the research institutes are still the application of modern scientific achievements in the process of providing medical care and the preservation of the health of couples and future generations.

Located at the address: Sverdlovsk region, Yekaterinburg, house number 1 on Repina street. The organizational department of the research institute works from Monday to Thursday from eight-thirty in the morning to five-fifteen in the evening, Friday is a shortened day (until 16:15).

The history of the development of the clinic

Date of creation of NII OMM - April 10, 1877. The organization was the first maternity hospital in Yekaterinburg. It was founded and existed at the expense of private entrepreneurs. In 1879, the doctor V. M. Onufriev became the manager of this institution. It organizes midwifery training sessions. A few years later, Onufriev created a unit for the treatment of diseases of the female reproductive system at the maternity hospital. Treatment of problems with the bearing of the fetus (for example, associated with incompatibility of Rh factors or with insufficient function of the reproductive organs).
Therapy of feto-fetal syndrome using laser surgery, transfusion of the fetus in the womb, treatment of dropsy of the abdomen.

Removal of benign gynecological neoplasms using ultrasound and MRI.

in vitro fertilization

IVF has been carried out at the Research Institute of OMM in Yekaterinburg for more than a year.
