The desire of a specialist to improve knowledge and skills poses the task of optimizing the educational process, taking into account both domestic traditions and principles developed and tested by the international community.

Unfortunately, doctors often have no idea about new diagnostic and treatment methods, medications, do not have computer skills and information resources, and most importantly, they lack motivation to improve their professional level. No one needs to be convinced of the need for postgraduate training of specialists. It is also an undeniable fact that, upon leaving the walls of the medical institute, the doctor is informed about the methods of treatment and the range of medications that were used in medicine at the time of his training. However, after five to seven years this knowledge becomes outdated and is not enough to maintain professional competence. A doctor, if he really wants to be a professional, needs to go back to his studies.

In the Central Black Earth region, the main work on advanced training and professional retraining of doctors is carried out by the Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education (IPME) of the Voronezh State Medical Academy (VSMA) named after. N.N. Burdenko.

Realizing that modern civilization has entered a fundamentally new information stage of development, when internationalization is intensifying and the leading global trend is the involvement of countries in international relations, the institute, together with the international services of the academy, directed its efforts to search for new forms and methods of professional retraining of doctors in the region. And there were prerequisites for this. For more than ten years, VSMA named after. N.N. Burdenko collaborates with the Faculty of Medicine of the University. Humboldt in Berlin on the basis of the Charité hospital complex. During this period, joint work was carried out on many projects. Some were brought to their logical conclusion, others were implemented in new forms, and others were suspended due to financial difficulties. The implementation of the pilot project “Certification cycles of advanced training”, which began in 2006, brought great benefits to both doctors and the population. Within its framework, under the patronage of the Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education, the academy held cycle seminars for advanced training of medical specialists in the following profiles: “General Surgery”, “Cardio Surgery”, “Traumatology”, “Pediatrics”, “Oncology”, “Therapy”. For two years, specialists from leading foreign university clinics regularly came here. In the period from 2006 to 2008, they gave 75 lectures and conducted 5 master classes, and they did this practically free of charge. Only the seminar and master class on traumatology, led by the director of the Center for Musculoskeletal Surgery of the Charité hospital complex, Professor N. Haas, and the head of the innovative technologies department of the Swiss company Mathis, Robert Frigg, cost, according to the most conservative estimates, 1 million. rubles Based on the results of the “Traumatology” cycle, the academy was donated demonstration equipment worth more than 880 thousand rubles. The seminars were conducted according to a cumulative system, and upon completion of the cycle, doctors received certificates.

But we understand perfectly well that we must constantly move forward, so the institute is expanding its on-site cycles, which provide for the organization of the educational process with minimal disruption from work and the use of self-directed and independent learning. Highly effective medical technologies are also being introduced into practice, a telemedicine center has been created, where consultations can be held for patients, lectures and seminars for students, especially in rural areas, electronic libraries and Internet pages with the publication of educational and methodological materials in various specialties are opened.

Another form is part-time and part-time education. Students of the courses receive teaching aids from the departments of the institute, get acquainted with the goals and objectives of the cycle, attend a course of introductory lectures in person, learn practical skills in their specialties, and within three to four weeks without interrupting their main work (in absentia) master the content of the issued teaching aids and educational materials. methodological literature from the Internet. Then they come to the department, undergo a test control and take an exam on the theoretical part of training. All this requires expanding publishing activities, preparing and distributing a sufficient number of teaching aids and lectures on CDs.

The introduction of new forms - such as training in telemedicine centers - together with the conduct of part-time and part-time cycles contributes to the creation of a unified information space for healthcare in the Central Black Earth region and opens up new prospects in solving the problem of training personnel for medical institutions.
