Porridge for first feeding: rating of the best products and preparation features. Milk-free buckwheat baby porridge - “complementary food with dairy-free baby buckwheat. our experience." Milk-free buckwheat porridge baby

We introduced porridge into complementary foods after vegetables and decided to start with dairy-free buckwheat. Malyutka is the second buckwheat porridge that we tried to introduce into our daughter’s complementary foods. Before that, we tried Bebi Premium dairy-free buckwheat, which didn’t work for us, and which I wrote about.

Let's start in order.

The baby is sold in packages of 200 g. The price is approximately 90-100 rubles. (in general, market average).

I liked this packaging option because of the clasp. Very convenient to use, excellent seal retention. Other manufacturers could take note of this idea.

Contains:

buckwheat flour, maltodextrin, minerals, vitamins.

Having studied the Internet, I came to the conclusion that, in fact, maltodextrin = sugar. At the moment, I decided for myself that I will buy products for my daughter until a certain age without sugar, salt and various ingenious compositions. Therefore, I personally consider the presence of maltodextrin in baby cereal as a minus (but here, of course, every mother has her own opinion on this matter).

Cooking method:

Everything is standard.

The porridge itself looks like this:

As far as I understand, Baby made from roasted buckwheat grains (for example, Bebi Premium made from unroasted grains; buckwheat porridge from this manufacturer is light in color and has larger grains).

And now to the process of preparing the porridge.

The second big minus for me is the formation of lumps during the preparation of the porridge. Oh, I don’t like these lumps...

The dairy-free Malyutka buckwheat tastes like buckwheat)). You can't confuse it with any other porridge. It’s just that, compared with Bebi Premium, Baby’s buckwheat porridge is generally tasteless. It was completely unclear from the taste what kind of porridge it was - buckwheat, oatmeal, or maybe some other kind.

Returning to Malyutka. The porridge also tastes sweet.

The child really liked the buckwheat Malyutka. This is the only way my daughter died in one sitting. True, I think that this is partly due to the sweet maltodextrin in the composition.

The third significant drawback of Malyutka milk-free buckwheat porridge, which is why this porridge did not work for us, is an allergic reaction in a child in the form of redness of the cheeks.

As I wrote above, before the buckwheat dairy-free Malyutka we tried to introduce Bebi Premium. Baby's cheeks turned even redder than Little One's. That is, it turns out that my daughter had a reaction either to some component in the cereal, or to the buckwheat flour itself. After two unsuccessful attempts, my pediatrician and I decided not to experiment with buckwheat anymore, and switched to oatmeal (by the way, we successfully introduced dairy-free oatmeal Fleur Alpine without sugar in its composition).

As a result, dairy-free buckwheat porridge Malyutka did not pass my subjective “mom selection” - maltodextrin in the composition, an allergic reaction in a child (possibly to the same maltodextrin?), lumps when preparing porridge.

It is well known that the ideal food for a baby in the first months of life is breast milk or adapted food. But time passes, the baby grows, and when he reaches 4-6 months, the mother and pediatrician face an important task - to introduce the first complementary foods in a timely manner.

Where to begin?

The first course of complementary feeding can be porridge, which contains nutrients - the most valuable sources of energy for the growing baby. Porridges, which contain essential vitamins and microelements, are useful for the prevention of nutrition-dependent ailments (rickets, anemia, malnutrition) that can occur in children in the second half of life.

Which cereals to choose?

To feed a child, it is preferable to use special industrially produced baby porridges, which have tangible advantages compared to porridges prepared independently at home:

  • guaranteed quality indicators;
  • safety (chemical and microbiological) of raw materials and finished food products;
  • the optimal degree of grinding of cereals, which makes it possible to take into account the age-related characteristics of the functional activity of the digestive system of children;
  • taste diversity, which is achieved through the inclusion of berry, fruit and vegetable additives in porridge;
  • There is no need to cook instant (instant) porridge; one portion of the product is prepared immediately before feeding, so the risk of infection is significantly reduced.
