Decoration of glasses for the New Year. Decoupage of champagne bottles for the New Year

The world is once again entering the season of merry feasts and festive mood. Today we will give you some tips on how to decorate your table and create the appropriate atmosphere in your home using the most basic tools at hand.

Master class No. 1

Nail polish can be found in any house where there are women. However, it is unlikely that you have ever thought that it can be used to decorate glassware. Moreover, than brighter colors The varnish that you use will make, for example, the most ordinary juice glasses or stems of glasses even more festive and unusual.

So, to work you will need a few bottles of varnish different colors or shades of the same color scheme, a bottle of colorless varnish, masking tape, a toothpick, a plastic cup and glass glasses with a flat bottom.

Wrap top part glasses with masking tape so as not to stain them during work. Only the bottom should remain unwound.

Fill a plastic cup with water at room temperature, then open all the bottles of nail polish and begin to carefully drip into the water. Drop drops of different colors in layers, one on top of the other. Do not touch the surface of the water at this stage of work!

It is very important to determine optimal temperature water. Please also take into account that some brands of varnish do not spread over the surface, but sink or gather in lumps. Experiment before you make your choice and start painting the glasses.

Now carefully dip the bottom of the glass tumbler into the varnish stain. Allow the varnish to collect around the sides, then lift the glass. Small air bubbles may form on the varnished surface, but this is normal. Place the glass upside down and let it dry.

Before you start decorating the next glass, remove any remaining varnish from the surface of the water.

When the work is completed, cover the dried pattern with a thick layer of clear nail polish. Once completely dry, remove the masking tape and, if necessary, trim the edges using a Q-tip and nail polish remover.

Please note that these glasses can only be washed by hand!

If desired, you can apply not an abstract, but a more specific pattern to the bottom. The principle of operation is the same, but you will have to put in more effort and ingenuity, alternating drops of varnish and working with a toothpick:

Something similar can be done with glasses (decorate bottom surface legs), but why not use other materials at hand for a change? For example, make covers from napkins with New Year's ornaments and bright holiday ribbon.

Step by step lesson #2

Everything is very simple. You will need thick napkins and matching tape, as well as Mod Podge or regular school glue diluted with water in a 2:1 ratio.

Place the napkin face down on the table and place the glass on it. Outline the contours of the lower part of the leg, “throw” another 5 mm around the circumference, and cut out the part. For each glass you will need two identical circles.

Using a brush, coat the bottom surface of the base of the leg with Mod Podge or adhesive solution (see above). Place the glass in the center of one of the circles and press the paper so that the glue sets. Then apply Mod Podge or glue solution to the protruding edges of the paper, fold them up, and press them to the glass as well.

Next, take the second circle and make a cut from its center to one of the edges, as well as several short notches around the center point, as shown in the photo. Coat the top of the base of the leg with Mod Podge or glue solution and carefully “slide” the second circle onto it and glue it. Fold the edges of the paper down and glue it to the paper on the underside of the base of the leg.

Once both pieces are secured in place, coat them with a layer of Mod Podge or adhesive solution. This will help make the case more durable. Wrap tape around the stem and secure it at the base and top with glue or a piece of double-sided tape. Decorate the leg and its head with beads, pom-poms and other accessories of your choice.

One more instruction

There are some other cool things you can do with Mod Podge or glue solution. Namely, apply a pattern to the dishes and give the glass a matte finish.

For example, we use glass candlesticks different shapes, but the same technique applies to bottles, glasses and glasses, with the only caveat being that the edge you bring to your lips must remain clean.

When starting this project, have the following supplies: Mod Podge or glue solution (approximately 2:1 school glue and water), tissue paper or napkins, and, if possible, a shape punch so you can easily cut out identical paper shapes. The last tool can easily be replaced by thin scissors, a stencil and a little of your patience.

To begin, decide on color scheme and the figures you will use. This could be numerous small details or one larger picture. Whatever you decide on, cut out the image from the chosen paper, place it on the glass in in the right place and apply a lightly watered down Mod Podge or adhesive solution over it. The paper should be soaked through with this substance, so the thinner it is, the better. However, be careful, wet thin paper tears easily and too sweeping movements with a brush can ruin the design.

If your design has small details, such as confetti, you may want the space between them to be matte. In this case, cover it with Mod Podge or adhesive solution just like paper.

When working with a glass or glass, do not stick the designs too close to the edge, it should remain clean. To be on the safe side, cover the edges with a wide strip of masking tape.

When all the prepared applications are thoroughly glued to the glass, let them dry. If glue gets on the edges of the vessel or on those parts of the glass where you didn't want it to be, carefully wipe it off cotton swab soaked in hot water.

Glasses decorated with paper and glue:

Vintage style bottles and glasses (note the edges):

Another option for decorating glasses, this time using paper and vinyl glue (it doesn’t spread like Mod Podge and doesn’t make the glass look dull):

Confetti made of gilded paper is simply glued to the glass, and a golden ribbon completes the composition.

If you have loose glitter, they are also perfect for decorating dishes:

Cover the stems of the glasses with a thin layer of decoupage glue.

And roll them in glitter.

Let the glasses dry, carefully brush off any excess glitter, and apply another layer of decoupage glue on top. A couple of days later when upper layer the glue will become transparent, they can be used.

Step-by-step master class No. 5

And finally one more original way Decorate glassware using Mod Podge or glue solution:

If you want to decorate glasses in this way, remember that the edges and stem must remain clean, and such a product can only be washed by hand.

To get the job done, you'll need Mod Podge and fake snow flakes, which can be found in gift shops during the holiday season. Such snow is usually poured under the Christmas tree and inside Christmas tree decorations.

Pour it out a small amount of cereal into a flat plastic or paper plate. Cover the vessel with a thick layer of glue and simply roll it in “snowflakes”.

After a couple of days, the glue will become transparent, and the flakes will look like real crispy snow.

Video lesson

We also suggest watching a detailed video master class on painting glasses with stained glass paints:

For example, your New Year's decor is made with bright colors and a predominance of warm shades of red, dark green and white, like in American films. For the New Year's table, you use a tablecloth of bright colors in red-green or even golden tones. In this case, decorating glasses for the New Year holiday can be done with a classic sugar rim, with chocolate or multi-colored sprinkles. A light green rim for glasses, as in the photo, will also look unusual. Wine glasses decorated with a sugar rim for the New Year will look beautiful both at an adult party and at a children's party. A lot depends on the drink. If you serve champagne to adults and lemonade to children in glasses, it is best to make a regular sugar rim or lightly decorate it with small multi-colored powder. For glasses of milk or cocoa for children, you can choose a chocolate, nut rim or use bright, multi-colored sprinkles, especially with stars, different months. Children will like this and they will be happy to appreciate your skill. They will even enjoy drinking cocoa.

To create a warm, homely atmosphere in the design of New Year's glasses and glasses, you can decorate the rim with nut, honey or chocolate sprinkles. To do this, you can use honey or protein in a flat container as a base. To do this, a wine glass, as in the photo, must first be dipped in protein or honey, then in powder and placed in a cold place for several hours until it hardens. In this case, powder can be used in chocolate tones, a mixture of small nuts that will go well with hot drinks and coffee, or just a mixture of crushed caramel candies. Then the drinks will not only acquire a pleasant taste and a bright accent, but will also look very good in a modern decor made in warm colors.

If your room is dominated by White color and vintage design, as in the photo, in addition to the sugar rim on the glass, you can use other options for decorating the wine glass. Of course, imitation frost on the walls is most suitable for your design decoration, but you can come up with your own version. For example, decorate several glasses with an almond rim or use powder in white, pink and blue tones.

Or make stencils on the walls, as in the photo, using regular powdered sugar. It will imitate snow and frost, and will also sparkle beautifully in artificial lighting. Here's how to make them at home.

Breath of winter on the walls

To make the glasses appear dusted with snow, you need to take window stencils, egg whites and powdered sugar. On the wine glass you need to smear some places in advance, avoiding the stem, with egg white and, using a stencil, dip the wine glass into powdered sugar or simply sprinkle it on the outside of the glass. You can even just make squirrel designs with a brush if you draw carefully and then dip them in powder. Then you will get drawings that imitate snow, very beautiful and pleasant. What will look best in them is not champagne or soda, but cocoa, mulled wine, red wine and coffee with milk.

Glamorous option “Gold in chocolate”

If you want to give your holiday a luxurious note, an expensive atmosphere with a lot of gold and glitter, you can use the following decoration option.

Take dark chocolate, egg white and some fine gold foil from the chocolate bar. To do this, melt the chocolate in a water bath, dip part of the glass into it and quickly sprinkle with foil or ground almonds and their petals. By the way, there is edible foil or golden plating, which is used in modern cooking. It looks very beautiful in artificial lighting, allowing you to create an expensive, glamorous atmosphere.

The legs of such wine glasses can also be decorated with a small composition. For it you will need several golden balls, a pine cone, a golden ribbon, a berry simulator for bouquets and a small Christmas tree branch. You can also use a box in gold foil, which imitates gifts on the Christmas tree. Or just limit yourself to a few cones with white snowballs made of foam rubber, which can also decorate the legs of such glasses. Tie to the legs and place on the New Year's table.

Glasses for table decoration and drinking drinks

By the way, the glasses and wine glasses themselves can be used not only for New Year’s Eve, for direct consumption, but also as an element of festive New Year’s decor. Especially if you show your imagination, just decide on the quantity in advance.

Glasses used to decorate a festive table can contain anything - from ordinary Christmas tree decorations to candles and personal predictions. They can be included in the holiday program or simply used as decoration for your table. Here are some ideas depending on the theme of your party.

Glitter of gold, expensive and glamorous atmosphere

Glasses for table decoration can be made with small gold-colored balls, scattering larger glossy gold balls around the table. Moreover, the design of each wine glass can be completely different, but within the same design style. For example, in one there will be a golden candle-tablet, and the walls and rim of the glass will be decorated with golden sand. Or another option - a third of the glass will contain several gold-colored toys, and the leg will be decorated with pine cones tied on a ribbon. Or in one of the glasses there will be sand with golden sparkles, which shimmer beautifully in artificial lighting, and on the stem there will be a small chocolate bar tied with a ribbon. There can be many such options. By the way, at a certain point during the holiday, guests can find a personal New Year’s prediction in such a wine glass. Or such glasses can generally be used as forfeits or as an element New Year's game. There can be many options. The main thing is that the predictions are interesting and meaningful. For example, someone in such a glass will find a prediction in a golden candy, someone - in sand with sparkles, and someone will even read it on one of the balls inside the wine glass or at the bottom of a candle if it is blown out and turned over.

Decorating New Year's glasses in a pirate style will also be interesting.

For a Mediterranean party

For this you will need a small cardboard, paper, foam and starfish. You can also take transparent varnish and golden glitter, imitating sand and several small shells.

On each cardboard you need to write a positive prediction for each guest. Twist them and tie them with thread or elastic for flowers. Then apply varnish to the foam, attach sparkles, stars, toys and shells. First, put the prediction in a glass, and under the bottom - foam with shells. Turn the glasses over. You can tie several blue balls or nautical-style decorations to the stems of the glasses, or put a candle-tablet. At a certain point in the holiday, each guest will read his or her prediction.

Keeping New Year's traditions

Can you imagine a New Year's table without a bottle of champagne? May those who do not drink alcohol forgive us, but the absence of sparkling wine in the characteristic green bottle for the New Year is equivalent to the fact that not everything in the house is ready for the celebration.

Since the 1960s, the tradition of clinking glasses of champagne during the chiming clock on the night of December 31st has become a tradition among our compatriots.

Get ready for an extraordinary serving of fizz on festive table. Uncorking a bottle of sparkling and invigorating drink in decoupage style and just like that is not the same thing. Breathing a “second” life into a thing - this is the highlight of the “decoupage” technique. The word is French, but they came up with the idea of decorating household utensils back in the distant Middle Ages, and in Germany. Today, ancient technology is taking on unprecedented proportions: people of all ages are “infected” with it. The original design is expressed in different styles: from Provence to military and ethno. We are sure that you will not resist trying champagne decor for the New Year, when everyone gives each other gifts. YOURS can become the most original, New Year's and sincere!

Champagne decor with paper napkin

Various materials are offered as materials for decoupage - even semolina, salt and eggshell. It’s better to start with decorating champagne, although no one bothers you to decorate bottles of wine, cognac or vodka.

To work you need to prepare:

  • A napkin with New Year's symbols;
  • Decorative lace (ribbon);
  • Glitter (sparkles);
  • Molar tape;
  • 2 brushes (one flat, the other for watercolor paints);
  • Glue for decoupage;
  • Decoupage varnish;
  • White acrylic primer for decoupage works;
  • Nail polish remover;
  • Cotton swab;
  • A small sponge, like for washing dishes.

Work begins by soaking the bottle in cold water. It is important that the champagne stands upright. After about an hour, all the stickers will come off, and only the top “gold” will remain. Use a sponge to remove any remaining glue and wipe the bottle dry with a towel. Degrease the glass surface with a cotton swab dipped in acetone.

Carefully remove the first layer from the multi-layer napkin - the one on which the pattern is applied. You can trim it with scissors along the edges of the image or leave the layer as is. To avoid staining the top label of the bottle, seal it with masking tape. Apply primer to the walls and bottom of the container with a sponge. Let dry and prime again. Wait 15 minutes for it to dry.

Attach the fragment with the pattern to the bottle. When its optimal location is found, apply decoupage glue directly on top of the napkin.

When the glue dries, remove the masking tape. Using white primer, use a thin brush to correct the places where there are unevenness in the contour of “our” drawing. Sprinkle the outline with glitter until the soil is dry. The label on which the masking tape was placed can be left in its original form. Another option is to apply decoupage glue in strokes and also sprinkle with glitter to create the effect of falling sparkling snow.

All that remains is to tie a decorative cord or ribbons around the top (under the cork) of the bottle, form a beautiful bow and secure it. The finishing touches are to go over the New Year's drawing a couple of times with a brush and varnish. Let dry.
Decoupage is complete - and look at the photo what happened.

Now, having “practised”, you can decorate several bottles with your own hands: for the table and as a gift!

New Year's candle decor ideas

Can be a great gift for the New Year regular candles. To work on the decor you need New Year's paper napkins, a dry tablespoon and a candle stub. Having cut out a fragment of the design from the first layer of paper napkins, it must be attached to the candle.

If you are doing this kind of work for the first time, it is better to prepare large, and even square, candles.

Now you need to light the cinder and hold a tablespoon over it until it becomes hot. Using deft movements, move the spoon over the design, as if smoothing it to the side of the candle. When hot, it will heat up a little, and the paper will stick to the paraffin very tightly. Heat the spoon and move it over the pattern several times so that the selected pattern is “imprinted” into the paraffin.

Decoupage champagne in a handkerchief

Prepare tools and materials:

  • Handkerchief;
  • Napkin with a New Year's pattern;
  • PVA glue;
  • Plain water;
  • Plastic container;
  • Acrylic paint (white and blue);
  • Braid (ribbons, ready-made decorative bow, lace, Christmas tree decoration with pine cones).

Pour water and glue into the prepared container in proportions of 1:1. Soak a wide handkerchief until thoroughly soaked, and wrap it around the bottle, which has previously been cleaned of labels and degreased. Where you plan to paste a fragment of a napkin, the scarf is perfectly smoothed, but in the rest of the area let the folds fall naturally.

Coat the scarf with acrylic paint and leave to dry. Peel off the first layer of paint from the napkin and tear it off (do not cut it with scissors) by hand along the contour of the design. Stick it onto the smooth part of the scarf and apply paint on top again. After complete drying, decorate the neck of the bottle with decorative elements.

Champagne dressed up as a Christmas tree

Make a New Year's outfit for a bottle using green bias tape. Apply Moment glue to a clean surface and wrap it with ribbons up to the shoulders in the manner of a V-shaped collar.

There are many more ways to decorate glasses for the New Year with your own hands. Use satin ribbons, beads, beads. Before you start, you need to choose the main color of the glass, and then introduce additional shades. For example, the main color would be green because it is associated with the Christmas tree. Paint the glass green and, using PVA glue, apply white and silver beads, ribbon bows, and circles to it.
