Citramon active substance. Citramon P: instructions for use, analogues and reviews, prices in Russian pharmacies. Expert opinion of Polismed medical board

Combined drug.

Acetylsalicylic acid has antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects, relieves pain, especially caused by the inflammatory process, and also moderately inhibits platelet aggregation and thrombosis, improves microcirculation in the focus of inflammation.

Paracetamol has an analgesic, antipyretic and weak anti-inflammatory effect, which is associated with its effect on the thermoregulatory center in the hypothalamus and a weak ability to inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins (Pg) in peripheral tissues.

Caffeine increases the reflex excitability of the spinal cord, stimulates the respiratory and vasomotor centers, dilates the blood vessels of the skeletal muscles, brain, heart, kidneys, and reduces platelet aggregation; reduces drowsiness, feeling of fatigue. In this combination, caffeine in a small dose has practically no stimulating effect on the central nervous system, but it contributes to the regulation of cerebral vascular tone.

Release form

Tablets are light brown, interspersed, flat-cylindrical, scored and chamfered, with a cocoa smell.

Excipients: cocoa powder - 22.5 mg, citric acid monohydrate - 5 mg, potato starch - 64.2 mg, talc - 4.9 mg, calcium stearate - 2.8 mg, polysorbate 80 - 0.6 mg.

6 pcs. - non-cell packing contour (900) - cardboard boxes.
10 pieces. - non-cell packing contour (600) - cardboard boxes.
10 pieces. - cellular contour packings (2) - packs of cardboard.
10 pieces. - cellular contour packings (1000) - cardboard boxes.

Dosage

Inside (during or after a meal), 1 tab. every 4 hours, with pain syndrome - 1-2 tablets; the average daily dose is 3-4 tablets, the maximum daily dose is 8 tablets. The use of the drug is not more than 7-10 days.

To reduce the irritating effect on the gastrointestinal tract, the tablet should be washed down with milk or alkaline mineral water.

Overdose

Overdose symptoms are caused by acetylsalicylic acid.

Symptoms:

With mild intoxication: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dizziness, ringing in the ears;

In severe intoxication: lethargy, drowsiness, collapse, convulsions, shortness of breath, anuria, bleeding.

Treatment: gastric lavage using activated charcoal, symptomatic therapy, depending on the state of metabolism - the introduction of sodium bicarbonate, sodium citrate or sodium lactate, which enhances the excretion of acetylsalicylic acid due to alkalinization of urine.

Interaction

Enhances the effect of heparin, indirect anticoagulants, reserpine, steroid hormones and hypoglycemic drugs.

Simultaneous use with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, methotrexate increases the risk of side effects.

Reduces the effectiveness of spironolactone, furosemide, antihypertensive drugs, as well as anti-gout drugs that promote the excretion of uric acid.

Barbiturates, rifampicin, salicylamide, antiepileptic drugs and other stimulants of microsomal oxidation contribute to the formation of toxic paracetamol metabolites that affect liver function.

Metoclopramide accelerates the absorption of paracetamol. Under the influence of paracetamol, T 1/2 of chloramphenicol increases 5 times. When taken repeatedly, paracetamol may enhance the effect of anticoagulants (dicoumarin derivatives).

Caffeine accelerates the absorption of ergotamine.

With the simultaneous administration of the drug and alcohol-containing liquids, the risk of toxic liver damage increases.

Side effects

There may be adverse reactions characteristic of acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol and caffeine: anorexia, nausea, vomiting, gastralgia (decrease in platelet aggregation), erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, gastrointestinal bleeding, allergic reactions, bronchospasm, exudative erythema multiforme (incl. h. Stevens-Johnson syndrome), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), renal failure, liver failure, dizziness, tachycardia, increased blood pressure.

With prolonged use, dizziness, headache, visual disturbances, tinnitus, decreased platelet aggregation, hypocoagulation, hemorrhagic syndrome (nosebleeds, bleeding gums, purpura, etc.), kidney damage with papillary necrosis are possible; deafness, Reye's syndrome in children (hyperpyrexia, metabolic acidosis, disorders of the nervous system and psyche, vomiting, abnormal liver function).

Indications

  • pain syndrome of mild and moderate severity (of various origins): headache, migraine, toothache, neuralgia, myalgia, arthralgia, algomenorrhea;
  • febrile syndrome: in acute respiratory diseases, incl. flu.

Contraindications

  • hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
  • erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract (in the acute phase);
  • gastrointestinal bleeding (including history);
  • complete or incomplete combination of bronchial asthma, recurrent nasal polyposis and paranasal sinuses intolerance to acetylsalicylic acid or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (including history);
  • severe violations of the liver and / or kidneys;
  • hemorrhagic diathesis, hypocoagulation, hemophilia, hypoprothrombinemia;
  • pregnancy (I and III trimesters);
  • breastfeeding period;
  • surgical interventions, accompanied by heavy bleeding;
  • deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase;
  • glaucoma;
  • severe arterial hypertension;
  • portal hypertension;
  • severe course of coronary heart disease;
  • avitaminosis K;
  • children under 15 years of age (risk of developing Reye's syndrome in children with hyperthermia on the background of a viral disease);
  • irritability, sleep disturbance.

Carefully

Mild to moderate renal failure, liver disease, alcoholism, epilepsy and a tendency to convulsive seizures, old age, gout, pregnancy (II trimester).

Application features

Use during pregnancy and lactation

During pregnancy (I and III trimesters) and during breastfeeding, the drug is contraindicated. In the second trimester of pregnancy, the drug should be used with caution, balancing the intended benefit to the mother and the potential risk to the fetus.

Application for violations of liver function

It is forbidden to use the drug in patients with severe liver dysfunction.

Application for violations of kidney function

It is forbidden to use the drug in patients with severe renal impairment.

With caution in mild to moderate renal failure.

Use in children

It is forbidden to use the drug in children under the age of 15 years (the risk of developing Reye's syndrome in children with hyperthermia on the background of a viral disease);

special instructions

Acetylsalicylic acid slows down blood clotting. If the patient is to undergo surgery, the doctor should be warned about taking the drug.

With prolonged use of the drug, monitoring of peripheral blood and the functional state of the liver is necessary.

Patients with hypersensitivity or asthmatic reactions to salicylic acid and its derivatives, including acetylsalicylic acid, can only be prescribed with special precautions (in the emergency room).

In patients with a predisposition to the accumulation of uric acid, taking the drug may provoke an attack of gout.

During the reception, you should refrain from drinking alcohol (increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and toxic liver damage).

Acetylsalicylic acid has a teratogenic effect; when used in the first trimester, it leads to a malformation - a splitting of the upper palate; in the III trimester - to inhibition of labor activity (inhibition of Pg synthesis), to the closure of the arterial duct in the fetus, which causes hyperplasia of the pulmonary vessels and hypertension in the vessels of the pulmonary circulation. It is excreted in breast milk, which increases the risk of bleeding in a child due to impaired platelet function.

Children under 15 years of age should not be prescribed drugs containing acetylsalicylic acid, since in the case of a viral infection they can increase the risk of Reye's syndrome. Symptoms of Reye's syndrome are prolonged vomiting, acute encephalopathy, liver enlargement.

Influence on the management of vehicles and on the maintenance of machines and mechanisms that require concentration of attention

There is no data on the effect on driving and on the maintenance of machines and mechanisms that require concentration.

Acetylsalicylic acid - has anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects, relieves pain caused by inflammation, to a certain extent reduces blood clotting and improves blood circulation in the focus of the inflammatory process;

Caffeine produces an exciting effect on the central nervous system and stimulates the work of the psychomotor centers of the central nervous system. It increases the lumen of blood vessels and reduces the feeling of drowsiness and fatigue. Caffeine is also known for its stimulating effect on physical and mental activity. It has caffeine and a mild analgesic effect.

- a drug with analgesic, antipyretic and moderately pronounced anti-inflammatory properties.

Indications for use

What helps Citramon? The main medical indication for taking Citramon (P) tablets is the symptomatic treatment of fever and pain of inflammatory origin in various pathological conditions:

  • Pain in the muscles (myalgia) and joints (arthralgia).
  • Toothache.
  • Increased body temperature in acute respiratory viral pathology and influenza.
  • Headache of moderate severity of various origins.
  • Reducing the severity of discomfort with painful menstruation in women.
  • Pain, the development of which is provoked by aseptic inflammation of the peripheral nerves (neuralgia).

At what pressure is prescribed?

Citramon contains caffeine in its composition. As a result, the pressure may increase. This fact must be taken into account in patients suffering from high blood pressure.

Instructions for use

Citramon is taken orally (during or after meals) 1 tablet every 4 hours, with pain syndrome - 1-2 tablets; the average daily dose is 3-4 tablets, the maximum daily dose is 8 tablets. The course of treatment is no more than 7-10 days.

  • sleep disorders;
  • increased excitability;
  • deficiency of the cytosolic enzyme G6PD;
  • kidney failure;
  • erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract in the acute phase;
  • hemophilia;
  • IHD of severe course;
  • surgical interventions accompanied by bleeding;
  • hypersensitivity to the components of the tablets;
  • lactation;
  • children's age (in children under fifteen years of age with hyperthermia against a viral infection, the likelihood of developing Reye's syndrome is high);
  • stomach or intestinal bleeding;
  • dissecting aortic aneurysm;
  • glaucoma;
  • hypoprothrombinemia;
  • severe arterial hypertension;
  • pregnancy (especially the first and last trimesters).

Relative contraindications are gout and existing liver pathologies.

Side effects

Against the background of the use of Citramon, various side effects may occur on the part of individual organs and systems:

  • headaches, dizziness - from the side of the central nervous system;
  • pain in the epigastric region, nausea and vomiting, development of erosive gastritis (with prolonged use of the drug) - from the digestive system;
  • disorders of kidney / liver function; various manifestations of allergic reactions (in particular, itching and skin rash, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, urticaria, Lyell's syndrome, Reye's syndrome, anaphylactic shock, etc.);
  • the occurrence of tinnitus, visual disturbances;
  • decrease in blood clotting, increase in the duration of bleeding - from the hematopoietic system.

To minimize the risk of side effects, the drug should be taken strictly according to the instructions.

Children, during pregnancy and lactation

Citramon is contraindicated in the first and third trimester of pregnancy. Acetylsalicylic acid, which is part of it, has a teratogenic effect, which can lead to the development of congenital anomalies of the fetus.

Taking in the third trimester contributes to premature closure of the aortic duct and increases the risk of bleeding in childbirth. In the second trimester, indications for Citramon should be carefully evaluated by a doctor. The drug can be used only in cases where the expected benefit of the treatment significantly outweighs the potential risk of affecting the development of the fetus.

The use of ASA-containing drugs for the treatment of acute respiratory viral infections in children (with or without hyperthermia) is contraindicated without prior consultation with a doctor.

With some viral infections (particularly infections caused by the varicella-zoster virus or influenza A or B-type viruses), there is a possibility of developing acute hepatic encephalopathy (Reye's syndrome), which requires immediate medical attention. One of the signs of Reye's syndrome is prolonged vomiting.

Given the above reasons, the use of tablets in patients under the age of sixteen is contraindicated. Since the drug has a large number of side effects, it is better for children with a headache or when a toothache hurts to choose safer remedies.

special instructions

Before you start taking Citramon tablets, you should carefully read the instructions for the drug, and also pay attention to a few precautions:

Patients with concomitant allergic pathology, this drug can be used with caution.

Acetylsalicylic acid, which is part of the drug, when taken by children with acute respiratory viral pathology, can provoke the development of Raynaud's syndrome.

The drug does not directly affect the functional state of the nervous system.

Prolonged use of this drug requires periodic laboratory monitoring of the functional state of the liver, kidneys, as well as the picture of peripheral blood.

Long-term use of Citramon tablets can provoke a decrease in the excretion of uric acid from the body and an attack of gout in patients with metabolic disorders.

The active components of the drug can interact with drugs of other pharmacological groups (anticoagulants, glucocorticosteroids), so a medical specialist should be warned about their possible use.

Patients before surgery, the drug should be canceled, as it reduces blood clotting.

drug interaction

Citramon is able to enhance the effect of hypoglycemic and steroid drugs, indirect anticoagulants. When it is taken together with Methotrexate and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, the risk of side effects increases dramatically.

According to the instructions, it is unacceptable to prescribe Citramon simultaneously with antiepileptic drugs, Rifampicin and barbiturates, because. in this case, the formation of hepatotoxic metabolites occurs in large quantities.

Citramon belongs to a number of combined drugs, which combines analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects.

The first substance is acetylsalicylic acid, which is thoroughly studied and included in the WHO list of the most important drugs. It works to stop the inflammatory process in the body, reduces pain, thins the blood in the focus of inflammation and lowers body temperature. The next component is paracetamol, which normalizes fever and has a good anesthetic effect. The third component is caffeine, which supports and multiplies the action of the first two.

In this article, we will consider why doctors prescribe Citramon, including instructions for use, analogues and prices for this drug in pharmacies. Real REVIEWS of people who have already used Citramon can be read in the comments.

Composition and form of release

Classic Citramon consists of three components:

  • Paracetamol at a concentration of 180 mg;
  • Acetylsalicylic acid - 240 mg;
  • Caffeine - 30 mg.

Clinico-pharmacological group: combined analgesic-antipyretic.

Indications for use

Pain syndrome of moderate intensity of various origins: headache, toothache, myalgia-muscle pain, arthralgia - muscle pain, neuralgia, painful menstruation, fever with acute respiratory infections, influenza and other inflammatory and infectious diseases.

pharmachologic effect

Citramon is a combined preparation, therefore, it contains several active substances, the mutual influence of which determines the pharmacological properties of this drug. Among the active ingredients of Citramon

  • Paracetamol has slightly pronounced anti-inflammatory, as well as antipyretic and analgesic properties.
  • Acetylsalicylic acid, which has anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects, in addition, it helps to relieve pain caused by inflammation, reduce blood clotting and improve blood circulation in the focus where the inflammatory process is localized;
  • Caffeine is able to excite the nervous system, expands the lumen of blood vessels, eliminates drowsiness and fatigue, has a slight analgesic effect, increases mental activity, increases blood pressure, despite small doses. Therefore, you should be extremely careful when taking the medicine if the patient is a coffee or strong tea lover, as it is possible to overdose the caffeine content in the blood.

The initial composition of Citramon included the substance phenacetin, however, due to its high toxicity, it was no longer added to the drug at all.

Citramon raises or lowers blood pressure?

Patients very often ask, does the drug lower or, conversely, increase blood pressure?

The impact on the level of blood pressure is produced by caffeine, which is part of the tablets - Citramon increases tone, excites the central nervous system and, accordingly, increases pressure.

Even despite the low content of this component, such an effect can be achieved, but you need to be careful - it is impossible for strong tea, cocoa or coffee to enter the body along with the drug.

Instructions for use

According to the instructions for use, Citramon is taken orally (during or after a meal), 1 tab. every 4 hours, with pain syndrome - 1-2 tablets; the average daily dose is 3-4 tablets, the maximum daily dose is 8 tablets. The use of the drug is not more than 7-10 days.

To reduce the irritating effect on the gastrointestinal tract, the tablet should be washed down with milk or alkaline mineral water.

Contraindications

Citramon is a very popular drug. But few people think about the cases in which it can not be taken.

Among the contraindications are:

  1. Exacerbation of peptic ulcer;
  2. Liver, renal failure;
  3. Pregnancy, breastfeeding;
  4. Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
  5. Blood diseases (leukopenia, anemia);
  6. Children's age (due to the risk of formation of Reye's syndrome);
  7. Severe form of coronary artery disease, severe arterial hypertension, heart failure.

Side effects

Usually Citramon is well tolerated by patients, however, manifestations such as:

  • From the biliary system: hepatic dysfunction.
  • From the side of the kidneys: renal failure.
  • From the side of the central nervous system: dizziness, frequent headaches, not relieved by medication.
  • On the part of the circulatory system: bleeding, decreased blood clotting (due to a decrease in the number of platelets).
  • From the digestive system: nausea, repeated vomiting, pain in the epigastrium, possibly a complication in the form of gastritis.

A mild form of intoxication is manifested by such symptoms: stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, pale skin, ringing in the ears, sweating, tachycardia.

Prices

The average price of CITRAMON P, tablets in pharmacies (Moscow) is 55 rubles.

Citramon is available in almost any home - it is an inexpensive, largely universal medicine that helps with headaches, fever, low blood pressure, toothache and hangovers. The medicine does not contain narcotic substances, hormones, gives a good general analgesic effect and can eliminate almost any unexpressed pain symptoms, regardless of the type of disease and the level of its development.

The production of Citramon is carried out by Russian and foreign enterprises. In this case, the medicine has approximately the same composition. Previously, Citramon contained phenacetin, but it has long been considered toxic, so it is not added to modern medicines.

Also now in many pharmacy chains you can find Citramon Ultra, which is an analgesic and antipyretic agent with a diverse combined composition. Citramon Forte is also for sale - this is a combined drug that lowers the temperature, soothes inflammatory processes, and anesthetizes well.

Before talking about what Citramon helps a person from, you need to list in detail the main components:

  • Acetylsalicylic acid (gives an excellent anti-inflammatory effect, is a non-steroidal substance).
  • Paracetamol (the main task of the substance is pain relief and temperature reduction).
  • Caffeine (acts as an alkaloid, which has a stimulating property and has a corresponding effect on the central nervous system).

Citramon also includes additional components (varies depending on the manufacturer). Citramon tablets have a strong complex effect due to the wide composition of substances.

Previously, the drug was actively used due to its strong analgesic effect. In accordance with the instructions, it is recommended to drink Citramon with pain of moderate severity, in which the medicine is most effective (if the pain is serious, then it is recommended to use potent drugs).

Citramon helps people who develop inflammatory processes inside the body in different organs (the components of the drug can improve microcirculation in painful tissues). The drug allows you to reduce body temperature. When they say what Citramon P tablets help from, most often it is about lowering the temperature, although the medicine can have a beneficial effect on other symptoms of various diseases.

Caffeine, which is contained in the drug, allows you to expand the blood vessels after taking it, as a result of which the work of various psychomotor centers in the brain is activated. The use of Citramon allows you to slightly increase the level of human performance, eliminate fatigue, and relieve drowsiness. At the same time, you should not take it too often and as a preventive measure - only if you have certain symptoms.

Indications for use

It is partly difficult to say what Citramon P in tablets can help specifically, because, given the composition of the drug, the drug is a fairly versatile remedy that has a high-quality medicinal effect on the human body for various disorders. Therefore, many doctors recommend having Citramon in your home medicine cabinet so that you can take it on time if there are appropriate indications.

  1. Citramon is one of the most popular drugs that are used for severe pain in the head. The components of the drug have a complex effect on the root causes of pain, give an excellent analgesic effect, so the pain syndrome is eliminated quickly enough. Along with the elimination of pain, there is a slight improvement in the level of performance. That is why many experts recommend taking Citramon to work with you (especially if you work in an office). The main advantages of the drug can also be attributed to the fact that a person does not get used to the drug, even if he constantly takes it for a long time. One of the disadvantages of Citramon is that the medicine is not able to provide proper assistance if there are severe headaches (or pain in another part of the body). In this case, it is recommended to use potent drugs with a pronounced analgesic effect. Citramon is a symptomatic medicine, therefore it is not recommended to treat chronic diseases with it.
  2. From low pressure. Taking into account the inclusion of caffeine in the preparation, taking Citramon allows you to increase the tone of muscles and blood vessels, to have an exciting effect on the central nervous system. As a result of all this, an increase in blood pressure occurs. Caffeine is contained in a relatively small amount, but it is strongly not recommended to drink coffee or black tea along with tablets, which also have an increased content of caffeine. It is best to drink Citramon with water.
  3. With toothache, many doctors also recommend starting treatment with Citramon. Here it must be borne in mind that this medicine has a beneficial effect and relieves pain if it is unexpressed and moderately intense. With the help of the drug, you can quickly eliminate the initial pain in the teeth, reduce the level of development of the inflammatory process in the gums (for example, this is true for periodontitis and other dental pathologies). You can not take Citramon for a long time, drowning out the pain in your teeth. You should consult a dentist if possible, and not temporarily eliminate the symptoms of a disease of the oral cavity.
  4. With a hangover. With withdrawal symptoms, it is also recommended to take Citramon, but only as a last resort, when no other available means help. The medicine quickly enough eliminates the symptoms characteristic of a hangover, improves the general condition of a person. It is strictly forbidden to drink Citramon in large quantities, because. in this case, the liver will experience an excessive load, which, against the background of alcohol intake, can provoke various disorders in the functioning of this organ. Drinking while taking the drug is strictly prohibited.
  5. From high temperature. Citramon is one of the most common anti-inflammatory agents that can be used by people of all ages. belongs to the group of nonsteroidal drugs. The medicine allows you to reduce fever when it is caused by the development of an inflammatory process or the symptoms of a cold. If the temperature is slightly elevated (not higher than 38 degrees), then you should not take pills - in this case, the body itself can cope with the problem that has arisen.

Instructions for use of the drug

If we talk about how to take Citramon, it is recommended that you first read the manufacturer's instructions. It is not universal, because a drug of this type is now produced by many pharmaceutical companies, and therefore the principles of taking the drug, dosage, terms may differ. It is also recommended to consult a doctor on this issue, if possible.

  • Citramon is recommended to drink after meals (it is best to drink a small amount of water). Speaking of how many tablets per day you can take, it is recommended to take 1-2 tablets every 8 hours and not more often. The maximum daily dosage is 6 tablets.
  • If the drug is used to lower the temperature or increase blood pressure, then the drug is recommended to be taken no more than 3-4 days in a row. If the pressure remains low, you should use strong drugs or consult a doctor.

Many women use Citramon during menstruation to eliminate most of the unwanted symptoms. In this case, you can count on a good therapeutic effect (especially if the pain syndrome is slightly expressed).

Pregnant women are advised to use this drug with caution, since many manufacturers prohibit drinking Citramon tablets during the 1st and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy. When breastfeeding, it is also not recommended to take medicine, even if the head or teeth hurt very much. In this case, you should seek help from specialists directly, or temporarily stop breastfeeding.

Contraindications and side effects

Before you find out what Citramon tablets help from, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the contraindications:

  • Children's age up to 14 years.
  • Renal failure.
  • High degree of arousal.
  • Glaucoma.
  • Erosion in different parts of the digestive tract.
  • Hemophilia.
  • Gout.
  • postoperative period.
  • Vitamin K deficiency.

It is forbidden to take Citramon if a person has any contraindications. Despite the prevalence and demand, the drug is potent, so it will have a powerful negative effect if there are contraindications. Do not give medicine to children under 14 years of age (even in small quantities), because. there is a possibility that the drug will bring a big negative effect.

The characteristics and action of Citramon are well studied, therefore it has long been proven that many patients who have no contraindications to the use of the drug can expect to receive a positive result from taking the drug. The drug is well tolerated by people of different ages and with different symptoms.

Compound

1 tablet contains the active substance: acetylsalicylic acid - 240.0 mg; caffeine - 30.0 mg; paracetamol - 180.0 mg.

Pharmacotherapeutic group

Combined analgesic (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug + psychostimulant + analgesic non-narcotic agent)

ATX code

pharmachologic effect

Combined drug containing acetylsalicylic acid, caffeine and paracetamol. In this combination, caffeine in a small dose has practically no stimulating effect on the central nervous system, however, it increases the tone of the cerebral vessels and helps to accelerate blood flow. Paracetamol has an analgesic, antipyretic and extremely weak anti-inflammatory effect, which is associated with its effect on the thermoregulatory center in the hypothalamus and a weak ability to inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins (Pg) in peripheral tissues.

Indications for use

Pain syndrome of mild and moderate severity (of various origins): headache, migraine, toothache, neuralgia, myalgia, arthralgia, algomenorrhea. Feverish syndrome: in acute respiratory diseases, influenza.
