Flower stall as a business. How to open a flower shop? Business plan with preliminary calculations. Wholesale flower suppliers

Flowers and bouquets of them are always associated with gifts and holidays. Perhaps that is why more and more people come up with the idea to create a flower business. And I have to admit that she this idea is pretty good. After all, the trade in plants has its advantages:

  • Minimum funds for creation and development;
  • Wrapping on flowers, especially on bouquets, can range from 200 to 400%.

But another question arises: what is needed, where to start, to open a flower shop from scratch? So, let's take a look at the points, step by step.

What does it take to open a flower shop?

1. Starting capital. Any business requires investment. For different fields of activity, the amount, of course, is different, but how much money do you need to open a flower shop?

It solely depends on what kind of store it will be. And this is not about the product, but about the premises for it, since the cost of flowers will depend on the supplier.

How much money is needed

At the opening of the flower pavilion the metro will need up to 10 thousand dollars (option with minimum investment). In view of the rental of an advantageous place for a year and its arrangement (design, shelves for goods, warehouse). The cost of a full-fledged store starts from 20 thousand dollars. As for the boutiques that are now popular, they need to invest at least 50 thousand dollars in their rent and equipment.

2. Equipment. It should be understood that cut flowers can be stored for a short time, then the product will be unusable.

Refrigerators will help extend the "life". The cheapest option would be to purchase industrial equipment, but if you wish, you can also order special storage facilities for flowers. If money is tight, then you can buy 2 used Soviet refrigerators, for example, on Avito.

It is also worth including lamps in the equipment to create the necessary lighting for plants, to care for flowers. The exact list of equipment for a flower shop, of course, will depend on the assortment.

Cut flowers require much less than potted plants. But the latter are able to provide stability.

3. Staff. In a simple pavilion or a small shop, you can hire a seller without much work experience (and he will work no worse than an experienced one, you can teach the intricacies of the flower business from scratch to any person). Such a specialist is able to give the client a pre-created bouquet or wrap the plant he likes in a package.

For more serious establishments, if not professional florists, then experienced employees should be hired. They must have an idea about each of the plants, know how to care for them and, of course, be able to make bouquets.

Important! Here attention should also be paid to appearance, since the seller will be the "face" of the store. The requirements are simple: friendliness, courtesy, accuracy, diligence and, last but not least, your seller must love flowers.

How much do flowers cost in bulk, what are the purchase prices?

Wholesale price of roses in Russia(Central region) about 50-70 rubles (1 dollar). At retail, they are sold for 120-140 rubles. Before March 8, prices for roses (wholesale) rise to 80-90 rubles, and at retail they become 130-170 rubles. I won’t say about the rest of the flowers, there is no real information. By the way! It can be much more profitable to buy flowers in bulk in a nearby large city than at a flower base in your city.

For example: at the wholesale base of my city, roses are 60-80 rubles per 1 piece. But in the nearest large city (80 km from mine) prices are 40-60 rubles. And it’s really profitable to travel to a large city (at least I know for sure that 2 flower shops in my city are purchased in the city that is 80 km from us).

Based on the above data, it is easy to calculate the profitability of the flower business and net profit.

Delivery and expansion of the range

It is worth considering the possibility of delivering flowers. If the goods from the store can be ordered remotely, then employees are needed to deliver them. For the first time, you can hire a driver and a courier in one person, but later, if there are a lot of orders, the number of employees will have to be increased. You should also think about hiring an administrator. Naturally, the staff directly depends on the size.

What else can be sold

In addition to flowers in a flower shop, you can sell: small Stuffed Toys, candy bouquets, beautiful and stylish flower vases, expensive candy sets, bonbonnieres, flowers in pots, artificial flowers, various small gifts for girls and women, etc.

What is the result

All of the above are basic. But do not forget that the business must first be registered. Better as IP, it is easier and cheaper in terms of taxation. But if you open a network of flower shops, then LLC is the best choice.

Opening your own flower shop is not difficult. However, the disadvantages should be known in person and taken into account:

  • Flowers are a perishable commodity;
  • Defective goods in a batch are not uncommon;
  • There is no stable demand, seasonality is inherent in the sale of flowers.

How much does a small flower shop earn on March 8

As mentioned above, flowers are quite a seasonal business. There are peaks of profitability - this is March 8, September 1, New Year. My friends have a small flower shop in small town(10 sq. m. - retail space), so for the past March 8, they in 1 day made a profit of 450 thousand rubles.

So, there is a big reason somewhere in the middle of the end of January. 2 months before the peak, in order to more people learned about your store. Or in November and July.

If you open a flower shop wisely, then in a year all costs will be repaid. The main thing is not to rush to get as much profit as possible from the business you just started.

A stable income can be ensured by taking into account the demand of customers and satisfying their needs.

And finally, the promised (free).

1. Summary of the project "Flower shop"

Every year the volume of the flower market is growing, which indicates the active development of the industry. Today, the floristic business is a popular and profitable type of business. The goal of the project is to open a flower shop in a city with a population of more than 1 million people. The main source of income for the establishment is the sale of flower products. The target audience is the population of the city aged 20 to 50 with an average income.

The main advantages of a flower shop:

    minimum initial costs;

    high profits in the long term;

    business profitability of 20-30%.

For the implementation of the project, a room with a total area of 20 m 2 is rented, located in the immediate vicinity of the shopping center. The volume of initial investment is 311,000 rubles. Investment costs are directed to the purchase of specialized equipment: the arrangement of a retail outlet, the purchase of flower products. Own funds will be used to implement the project.

Financial calculations cover a three-year period of project operation. It is anticipated that after this time, business expansion will be required. According to the calculations, the initial investment will pay off in the fifth month of operation. Based on the results of the first year of operation, a net profit of 682,782 rubles and a return on sales of 21% are forecast. Integral project performance indicators are presented in Table 1.

Table 1. Key performance indicators of the project

2. Description of the industry and company

Flowers are one of the main attributes of the holiday. The tradition of giving flowers and decorating space with them has firmly established itself in Russia. Therefore, flower shops always find their customers, despite the season and economic crises. The demand for flowers is a kind of reflection of the financial condition of society - the richer it is, the more flowers are bought. And at the same time, even in times of crisis, flower shops are actively conducting their business - only the focus on sales is shifting, preference is given to budget options, but sales volumes do not decrease.

Over the past few years, the Russian flower market has been demonstrating active growth. The statistics of market volumes testify to the dynamic development of the flower market. Every year, the market volumes are increasing - for the period from 2011 to 2015, the volume of the cut flower market in physical terms increased by 1/3.

Figure 1. The volume of the flower market in real terms, billion pieces, 2011-15

In monetary terms, this growth is more noticeable due to the increase in prices for flowers. During the period 2011-2015, the market volume increased by almost 40%.

Figure 2. The value of the flower market, billion rubles, 2011-15

To date, the entire Russian market can be estimated at 160 billion rubles in monetary terms and 35.8 tons in physical terms. According to analysts' forecasts, the Russian flower market will continue to grow. According to the analytical company GLOBAL REACH CONSULTING, the real capacity of the domestic market is estimated at $40 billion.

Thus, the flower business is regarded as one of the most promising, despite the risky component. The average profitability of the flower business is constantly growing. At the same time, the likelihood of risk also increases. The main threats are related to the pronounced seasonality of the business and the high probability of incorrect planning of sales volumes of flower products. Flower sales peak in February, March, May, September and December, and the summer months are considered the "off" season, which can cause a significant reduction in profits. In addition, flowers are not stored for a long time - the maximum period for their sale is limited to one week. In case of excessive purchase of flower products, the store may suffer losses. However, sellers take this risk into account when pricing, assuming that about 60% of the flowers will not be sold.

Ready-made ideas for your business

Another risk is a strong dependence on imports. Today, Russia ranks sixth in imports of cut flowers, and the share of imports in sales is about 90%. However, there is a positive trend in the share of domestic products. According to analysts, in the next ten years, Russia will take second place in Europe in terms of imports after Germany. This risk lies in the possible growth of the exchange rate, the likelihood of a ban on the import of flower products from some countries, the tightening of customs policy, etc. Figure 3 shows the structure of flower imports by producing countries. The largest share of imports falls on the Netherlands - 44.7%, the second and third place is occupied by Ecuador and Colombia with a share of supplies of 36% and 12.8%, respectively. Other countries account for only 6.5% of deliveries.

Figure 3. Distribution of producing countries by volume of deliveries in physical terms in the Russian Federation, 2014

Roses account for 43% in the structure of flower deliveries. The second most popular flowers are chrysanthemums - 24%. The top three is closed by carnations, the share of supplies of which is 22%. In general, for last years the supply leaders remain unchanged, however, there is a tendency to popularize exotic, unusual colors. IN Lately flower shops try to diversify their range and attract customers with unique types of flowers.

Figure 4. Structure of flowers in the total volume of imports (in physical terms), %, 2014

Pricing in the market consists of two components - the amount of costs (taking into account the exchange rate, customs duties, the price of gasoline, etc.) and fluctuations in demand - an increase in demand entails an increase in prices. On average, the pricing policy in the flower market implies an extra charge of 100-300% of the purchase price.

In most cases, retail sales of flowers are carried out in the form of flower pavilions and stalls - 70%, about 10% are in shops, flower shops and boutiques designed for the premium segment are less popular. Recently, online stores are gaining popularity, which are a less risky model of the flower business.

Analysis of the flower market showed the relevance and relevance of this business. The main advantages are a relatively quick organization and start of work, the absence of licensing activities, a low threshold for entering the market, an acceptable level of initial investment, high demand for goods and a level of profitability. However, the disadvantages of the flower business should also be taken into account: non-standardization of products, high dependence on customs policy , exchange rates, pronounced seasonality, high level of competition.

3. Description of goods and services of the flower shop

The main activity of the florist shop is the retail trade in flower cuts. For the flower business, a set of additional services is important, which form its competitive advantages. Additional services may include:

    flower courier service;

    floristic decoration of celebrations;

    sale of related products (postcards, soft toys, sweets, etc.);

    gift wrapping;

    drawing up floristic boxes with flowers and sweets;

    original packaging of bouquets, for example, cone bags with a comfortable handle or craft paper;

    drawing inscriptions and drawings on flower petals;

    creation of floral compositions for decoration.

Ready-made ideas for your business

The range of additional services can be much wider - it depends on the format of the store and its goals. To form a list of services in a flower shop, it is recommended to study the services of competitors. To date, the sale of standard bouquets is a losing business model. Modern consumers value creativity, original approach and exclusivity of the floristic services provided.

List of flower shop services:

    Sale of cut flowers(rose, chrysanthemum, tulip, peony, ranunculus, hydrangea, eustoma, carnation, gerbera, alstroemeria, narcissus, orchid, lily, freesia), taking into account the seasonality of flowers;

    Gift wrapping of flowers and bouquets;

    Making floral arrangements and bouquets;

    Sale of related products(postcards, gift boxes with flowers and sweets);

    Delivery of bouquets by courier service;

    Floral decoration for celebrations. Services for the design of premises are provided by prior order, taking into account the wishes of the client;

    Bouquet order by phone– to save the client’s time waiting for the bouquet, the store provides a service pre-order. It is enough for the client to call in to pay and pick up the bouquet.

4. Flower shop sales and marketing

Statistics for medium and large cities allows us to form a typical “portrait” of a flower shop client: 57.9% of men, 42.1% of women, the average age of the buyer is 35 years, material wealth is average. In accordance with the above statistics, the target audience of the store is also determined - the population aged 20 to 50 years with an average income level.

The first step is to analyze the competitive environment. This will allow you to assess the level of demand and business threat, develop your competitive advantages and decide on a marketing strategy. creative services presented in your store.

When planning an advertising campaign, it should be borne in mind that promotion channels such as advertising in newspapers, on radio and television in the flower business do not bring the desired effect. This is due to the fact that buying flowers is often an impulsive phenomenon - a person walks past a flower stall and decides to buy a bouquet here. Therefore, outdoor advertising will be the most effective. In addition, one of the parameters that determine the competitive advantages of a flower shop is a favorable location. The most successful location of the outlet is a pavilion at the intersection of several streets with a lot of passer-by traffic.

In addition, it is recommended to create in social networks group and profile advertising products. Creating a website for a flower shop is completely optional, especially if you plan a small flower stall. Setting the price for the sold goods of a flower shop should be carried out taking into account the prices of competitors. It is important that the pricing policy be flexible enough - this will satisfy the demand both in the budget and in the expensive price segment. To stimulate the sale of flower products, bonus cards, various discounts and promotions, and a loyalty program for regular customers can be used.

You should also provide for the creation of your own logo and branded packaging, which will become calling card shop. Development of an exclusive style, logo and original name will cost an average of 6000 rubles. advertising sign will cost around 20,000, including installation. Do not forget about such a form of advertising as word of mouth. That's why the best advertisement there will be fresh flowers and the professionalism of florists capable of creating beautiful flower arrangements.

5. Flower shop production plan

Opening a flower shop includes six main stages, including registration, selection of location and premises, recruitment, purchase of equipment, search for suppliers of flower products, sales planning and purchase of goods. Next, we will take a closer look at each of them.

1. Registration with state bodies. Retail flowers is an unlicensed activity, which simplifies the process of collecting the documents required to open a flower shop. The organizational and legal form of an enterprise can be an individual entrepreneur or LLC. For a flower shop, it is recommended to register an individual entrepreneur with a simplified taxation system (“income” at a rate of 6%). Types of activities according to OKVED-2:

    47.76.1 Retail sale of flowers and other plants, seeds and fertilizers in specialized stores. This is the main activity. When diversifying the flower business and having additional services, you can specify the following codes:

    47.78.3 Retail trade in souvenirs, handicrafts

    64.12 Courier activities other than national postal activities

    74.10 Activities specialized in the field of design

    82.92 Packaging activities

Ready-made ideas for your business

It is not necessary to enter the entire list of codes, but if you plan to further expand your business, it is recommended that you enter all of the listed codes that may be required in the future.

List of documents for opening a flower shop:

    permission to trade in flowers;

    the program of sanitary and production control is obtained once after approval by Rospotrebnadzor;

    contracts for deratization, disinfestation and disinfection;

    contract for the maintenance of the ventilation and air conditioning system;

    contract for the export and disposal of solid waste;

    internal documentation: register of disinfectants;

    SES hygienic permit or relevant quality certificates.

2. Location and choice of commercial premises. The main criterion for choosing a location is high traffic of people. It can be street intersections, an area near a shopping center or a bus stop, busy streets in residential areas. A retail space on the ground floor of a residential building is also suitable - as a rule, such premises are relatively cheaper. For a flower shop, a room of 20 m 2 is suitable - this will be enough for a retail space and a small room for storing flowers. For the implementation of the project, it is planned to rent a room near the shopping center. The area of the leased premises is 20 m 2, the average cost for a city with a population of 800-1 million people is 20,000 rubles.

3. Recruitment. The main employees of the flower shop are florists. It is recommended to take a responsible approach to the choice of a florist and hire professional staff, since the quality of the services provided depends on them. During the daily operation of the store from 9:00 to 21:00, two florists will be required to work in shifts.

4. Purchase of equipment. In a flower shop, it is necessary to maintain a temperature of +5º to +8º C, which is comfortable for flowers. To do this, you will need to install a specialized refrigerator. The cost of such equipment is 50,000-70,000 rubles, and the installation averages 20,000 rubles. To save money, you should consider purchasing used equipment - it will cost 20-25% less. You should also take into account small working equipment that florists will need to make bouquets - rubles are laid for this. Another important point is the installation of security and fire-fighting equipment, the cost of which will be an average of 30,000 rubles.

5. Search for suppliers of flower products. This point is one of the key when organizing a flower business, since the work of the store and the quality of the final product depend on the reliability of suppliers. The search for partners can be carried out through thematic forums and websites. The choice of suppliers is a rather responsible and painstaking work.

6. Sales planning and purchase of flower products. Planning sales volumes is a very important stage, since the supply of flower products depends on it. Incorrectly calculated terms can lead to either store downtime or losses due to product damage. Another task follows from this - an established system for the delivery of flower products. Keep in mind that freshly cut flowers must be brought in every 4-5 days. Thus, it is planned to carry out 5 purchases per month every 5 days. To fill a trading area of 15-20 m 2, an initial purchase of approximately 70,000 rubles will be required. At the same time, the additional purchase of the assortment will amount to 10,000-15,000 rubles.

Sales planning is based on the seasonality of the flower business. Sales peaks fall on the following dates - February 14, February 23, March 8, May 9, September 1. Profit for these days can be 20-25% of the total profit for the entire month. In summer, demand drops significantly, although graduation and wedding days should be taken into account. An approximate schedule of revenue volumes by months is shown in fig. 5 - it shows the peaks and declines in flower sales.

Figure 5. Dynamics of sales volume of flower products by months

Predicting the income of a flower shop is quite difficult. In each case, it is necessary to carefully plan sales volumes, taking into account the price segment, region, competitors, etc. For the forecast in this project, average market indicators will be used. According to statistics, the volume of sales in a stationary store per month is 200-250 bouquets. Based on the fact that the store will present a variety of flowers - both inexpensive and premium - sales planning is based on a ratio of 60/40%: i.e. the number of inexpensive bouquets will be 120 pieces, and expensive ones - 80 pieces. The average price of bouquets in the inexpensive segment will be 300 rubles, in the expensive segment - 1500 rubles. On average, the monthly revenue will be 267,150 rubles.

6. Organizational plan for a flower shop

For the functioning of a flower shop, you will need to form a staff:

    Director- store manager, combining the work of an accountant and a procurement logistics specialist. The director may be the business owner himself;

    Florists– employees who are engaged in the preparation of compositions and the sale of bouquets;

  • Cleaning woman(part-time), cleaning the premises 3-4 times a week.

It is planned to hire two florists who will work in shifts. Work schedule: 2 through 2. Practice shows that for successful business flower sellers must not only be able to arrange bouquets and get along with customers, but also know the psychology to offer the bouquet that the client wants to buy. This point should not be neglected, so when choosing florists, you should take it into account. The total wage fund will amount to 72,000 rubles, and taking into account insurance payments - 93,600 rubles per month.

Table 3. Flower shop staff

Since the list of services includes the delivery of bouquets, cooperation with a courier service is necessary. The market currently offers various options courier services who are interested in cooperation with legal entities. The average rate of 1 delivery in the city is 250 rubles. Usually stores, providing such services, make an extra charge of 50-100 rubles. Since it is quite difficult to predict the popularity of this service, the profit from it is not taken into account in this project. In case of successful business development, it is planned to hire a courier driver who would deliver flower products. At the initial stage of the business, having such an employee on the staff is not profitable.

7. Financial plan for a flower shop

The financial plan takes into account all income and expenses of the project, the planning horizon is 3 years. It is planned that after this period the institution will need to expand its business. To launch the project, it is necessary to calculate the amount of initial investment. Approximately 43% of the initial investment is in the technical equipment and furniture of the store; 45% of investments - for the initial purchase of flower products and the formation of a fund for paying rent and salaries in the first months of work, for advertising and registration - 12%. Thus, the total amount of the initial investment will be 311,000 rubles. Own funds will be used to implement the project.

The amount of depreciation is determined by the straight-line method, based on the useful life of fixed assets in 5 years. Fixed costs also include tax deductions, which are not presented in this table, since their amount is not fixed, but depends on the amount of revenue. In the structure of costs, the share of the payroll is 47%, the purchase of flower products - 25%.

8. Performance evaluation

The payback period of the project with an initial investment of 251,000 rubles is 5 months. The net monthly profit of the project upon reaching the planned sales volumes will be 156,000 rubles. It is planned to reach the planned sales volume in the third month of operation. Profitability of sales in the first year of operation - 21%. The net present value is positive and equal to 88,312 rubles, which indicates the investment attractiveness of the project.

9. Possible risks of the flower business

The flower business comes with a variety of risks to consider when planning:

    Flowers are a perishable commodity. In order to avoid losses, it is necessary to constantly monitor the market and forecast demand;

    The likelihood of receiving low-quality or defective goods. It is possible to reduce this risk by choosing reliable suppliers and competently drafting a contract;

    The cyclicity of the flower market and the episodic demand (seasonality). It will not be possible to completely eliminate the risk, but it is possible to mitigate its impact by opening new business segments and introducing additional services;

    Errors in estimation of sales volumes, which can lead to the disposal of 60% of all flower products. It is possible to mitigate this risk by collecting statistical data: installing a sensor at the entrance to the store that counts incoming visitors. These indicators and sales statistics will allow you to calculate the optimal volume of purchases and draw up a weekly plan. Small flower shops adapt to the format of work within 1-2 months;

    High level of competition in the market. It is possible to reduce this risk with a well-thought-out marketing strategy and the achievement of certain competitive advantages;

  • Fluctuations in the exchange rate and the likelihood of tightening customs policy. It is possible to reduce the impact of this risk by diversifying suppliers and purchasing part of the goods from domestic manufacturers;
  • Loss of space or increase in rent. Since a favorable location largely determines the success of a business, changing it can entail significant costs. To minimize this risk, you should carefully choose a landlord and conclude a long-term lease agreement.

The article describes the risks of running a flower business very well, but did not emphasize that one of the main factors affecting the success of this business is the location of the pavilion and the level of competition in the immediate environment. Why is it so?

First of all, because in large cities the population itself is heterogeneous. Neither by age structure, neither by income nor by preferences. And this is important, because in different areas there is a different “average bill”, which directly affects the profitability of a business.

Secondly, where citizens with higher incomes live, the share of bouquets with a floristic component and having a higher profitability in the revenue structure will be noticeably higher than in areas where pensioners mainly live.

Thirdly, it makes sense to focus on “related” products and services and increase their share in revenue, since in most cases, their “profit on sales” is higher than the typical average markup on the main product.

Working on such projects, I was often asked: what flowers are most in demand? What should be the minimum purchases and product balances? What should be the markup? Unfortunately, the answer to these questions can only be practical experience or careful study of the market. At the same time, he, the "experience" in each city, in each district is different. This must always be kept in mind.

Ask anyone if he would like to become a businessman, and he will surely answer that he would. Firstly, it is very prestigious, secondly, any businessman is his own boss, and thirdly, business, as a rule, has no limits on profitability. But what kind of business to open so that it brings income and success? Today it is not difficult to find, it is much more difficult to come up with them yourself. However, you should not reinvent the wheel either, you can simply choose one of the most cost-effective and to your liking.

Business ideas are completely different. There are those that can work for a person without special knowledge and skills, there are those that require virtually no investment (for example,). Desire, analysis of your capabilities and the amount of start-up capital (or its actual absence) will help you make a choice. One of the most profitable and interesting types of business can be the opening of a flower shop.

How to open a flower shop from scratch?

You don't have to be a florist to open a flower shop. However, it is desirable to have experience in running a business or at least in sales. In addition to routine things like choosing a premises and purchasing an assortment, you need to register your business. Registration must be carried out with the relevant authorities as an individual entrepreneur with OKVED (code 52.48.32 - Retail trade in flowers and other plants, seeds and fertilizers). After purchasing a cash register, you must register it.

You will need the following package of documents:

  • Conclusion of the SES;
  • Trade Permit;
  • Invoices for goods.

In addition, you will need a cash register, a lease agreement for the premises, as well as a price list.

What does it take to open a flower shop?

It's no secret that to successfully open any business, you need a desire, a business plan and some start-up capital. Specifically, the flower business requires the purchase of flowers and materials for decorating bouquets, the presence of a warm room, employees, and, of course, a beautiful and memorable name for the store.

Choosing a store location

The profitability of your business can largely depend on the choice of a place to open a flower shop. The most profitable can be considered places near the registry office or the park. Transport links will also be excellent. In addition, the accessibility of the store for both pedestrians and motorists is also important.

Room selection

The premises must first of all correspond SES requirements and also be comfortable, warm and cozy. By the way, on the basis of a regular store, you can open an online store with delivery.

Room types:

  • Flower kiosk;
  • Floristic salon;
  • Flower shop.

The choice may depend on the profile and starting capital. For a flower kiosk, a room of 8-10 square meters will be enough, for a large-scale store, about 30-40 square meters will be required.

Purchase of goods

To establish connections with good suppliers, it is enough to find them on the Internet. Pay attention not only to their advertising and portfolio, but also to the reviews of their clients. As a rule, the work is coordinated 2-3 weeks before the deliveries themselves, and before the holidays - 3-5 weeks before.

Advice: try to cooperate with at least two or three suppliers. This will help to avoid problems with deliveries, even if some of your partners suddenly have force majeure circumstances.

Range selection

In order to practice flower business you don't have to be a florist. But it is necessary to understand which plants should be introduced into the assortment and how to sort them.

In addition to standard cut flowers, potted plants, seeds, fertilizers, earth, roots, packing materials, soft toys, postcards, and souvenirs should be kept in the store.

The most popular flowers are roses, chrysanthemums, tulips, lilies, hyacinths, orchids and other popular plants. It is not worth buying flowers in large quantities. And in the cabin it is necessary to maintain a special microclimate, especially for capricious plants.

Staff

Properly selected staff is very important, especially in the early stages of your flower business. It will be enough to hire two experienced or at least just graduates with medical books. The training of florists is very important, especially when working with capricious plants and flowers.

Advice: over time, it will be possible to hire employees and train them from scratch so that they know all aspects of working in your store, and you have confidence in them as specialists.

Equipment

First of all, in a flower shop or salon, you need an industrial refrigerator in which you can store plants without damaging them. Racks for souvenirs, packaging materials and potted flowers, stands, shelves and counters are also needed. The design of the store should be aesthetically beautiful, it is necessary to maintain cleanliness and fresh air in room.

Flower shop name

As you call the ship, so it will sail - an old, but very true truth. And it's not always easy. You can turn to professionals in the field of advertising, or you can name a flower salon by the name of your beloved wife or daughter, as well as by the name of an outlandish flower. The name should be stylish, memorable and fashionable. The flower shop "Romashka" can only remind you of the remnants of the Soviet past, but if you call the flower shop "Azalea" or, for example, "Magnolia", even the sign itself will catch your eye. If a store delivers flowers along with fruit baskets and gifts, it could be called "Eden", which would be associated with beauty and luxury. The name of the flower shop can also be associated with the location. For example, if it is located at a crossroads, it can be called "Oasis". If you call the flower shop "Eternal Summer" and make a themed interior, it will be very bright, stylish and memorable. You should not give names that are trivial and do not carry any meaning. Then he will automatically doom himself to low popularity. The most important thing is that the name should be not only beautiful, but also sonorous and memorable. This is important both for word of mouth and for the store to be heard by the townspeople.

flower shop advertisement

Today, there are a huge number of ways to advertise any product or service. It can be advertising on TV, and an ad in newspapers and on bulletin boards, and jingles on the radio ... It all depends on the budget and taste. It will be useful to create your own website and groups in social networks. By the very opening of the store and by the holidays, you can arrange promotions and distribute flyers. The brighter the opening of the store, the more likely it will be popular.

Advice: The idea of opening a flower business is not new, and there are a lot of competitors in this business. Therefore, the approach to the store must be creative. It is advisable to come up with some of your own zest or know-how, which will be unique to your salon. Moreover, in this way you can not only attract attention, but also make the store constantly be heard.

Is the flower business profitable?

Today, business has become very popular, and they have also begun to open everywhere. Flowers are grown the same way. This type of crop production has recently become not only popular, but also very profitable. But is it profitable to sell flowers?

People have been buying flowers for centuries. Both before and now they are given to artists, wives, lovers, teachers, and some buy bouquets for themselves, just to put them in a vase at home. Therefore, flowers have not lost their popularity, and their sales will be profitable for many more years.

Expenses

So, what should be the starting capital to open profitable business? This type of activity does not apply to methods, so you will either have to earn and accumulate, or apply to the state for subsidies. However, you can get by with the amount of 500-600 thousand rubles. The expenses are as follows:

  • Registration of an enterprise - 30 thousand rubles;
  • Rent of the premises plus its repair (if necessary) - 100 thousand rubles;
  • Purchase of equipment (including a refrigeration unit) - about 200 thousand rubles;
  • Salary to employees - 30-40 thousand rubles;
  • Advertising - 20-30 thousand rubles;
  • Purchase of goods (first batch) - 50-70 thousand rubles;
  • Related expenses - 30-60 thousand rubles.

Profits from the flower business

A flower business, like any other, must endure a period when there is practically no income, and its owner will have to wait for some time until the costs pay off. Usually it takes about 3-4 months, but sometimes for six months or a year. You should not expect big revenue either, it increases gradually month after month. The price of the goods should be set no less than 200% of the purchase price, otherwise there will be no profit at all. Huge batches of products are also not worth buying for the first month.

With the most conservative estimates and taking into account all the costs, you can get the following picture:

  • The loss for the first month will be about 80-70 thousand rubles;
  • Loss for the second month - 40 thousand rubles;
  • Loss for the third month - 10 thousand rubles;
  • Profit for the fourth month will be 10 thousand rubles;
  • Profit for the fifth month - 20 thousand rubles;
  • Profit for the sixth month - 30 thousand rubles.

As we can see, in the first 3-4 months, funds will have to be invested without making a profit. You will have to invest, in particular, in the purchase of products and wages employees. In the future, revenues will grow, and their growth will depend on advertising, demand and many other factors.

Flower business from scratch - reviews

Many people open manufacturing businesses. Including today there are many owners, whose reviews can be found on the network in large numbers. Flowers can also be not only sold, but also grown, as some people do. However, if you do not understand the cultivation of flowers, it is better not to undertake such an activity. However, there are also a lot of positive reviews from people who specialize only in sales.

Marina:
I have loved flowers since childhood. And both potted and garden. Perhaps this love is hereditary, because it is passed down from generation to generation. My mother once kept a small flower stall, and from early morning, having cut flowers at home (of which we had whole plantations), she sold them in a small square in the city. Her father helped her, transported all the products. Often her mother's hands were weathered, but she loved her work. I decided to follow in her footsteps. At first she received a certificate of a florist, studying to be a manager at the institute, then, after working for some time in a flower shop and saving money, she opened her own small stall. Only mine was already equipped and warm. By that time, my mother was already retired, and it turned out that it was she who was the supplier of the products. And I'm glad. Together with her we organized small business with all certificates. Gradually we began to expand. They opened another similar stall and hired a salesman. They hoarded money. Today, together with my mother, I own a whole network of small flower shops and shops. My growing daughter also wants to become a florist. After all, flowers are wonderful! I will gladly help her in her endeavors.

Sergey:
It's not that I always wanted to be in the flower business someday. I had my own car wash, which my parents helped me open when I was 25 years old. And she brought in a very good income. When I got married and had a son, I brought a huge bouquet of roses to my wife at the maternity hospital as a sign of gratitude when I took them home. We drove and talked, she admired the bouquet all the way. Then she told me: “let's open a flower shop? I did a little floristry and I’m ready to work there!”. Before that, my wife did not work, because there was no need for it. I told her so at the beginning, because the income from car washes (of which there were already three in the city by that time) justified all my expectations. After two days of almost endless persuasion, I nevertheless agreed to open a small salon, in which my wife appointed herself the chief artist and manager. You could say that I gave it to her. To my surprise, in just a couple of weeks, there was such a huge demand for bouquets and compositions from my wife that we did not even have time to buy products! From under her light hand, from ordinary flowers and jewelry, whole works of art were born, which buyers used not only at weddings and various holidays, but also gave them to their women. Two months later, the wife began to recruit workers and train them herself. Her salon moved to a more spacious and beautiful space, and in addition to them, we opened two more of these, in which her students worked. I guess it's time for me to close the car wash and open a whole chain of flower shops across the country.

Anna:
In her student years, she worked in a flower shop on the night shift. Sleep was already terribly desirable, and the demand was very small. I didn’t understand at all why I was sitting in the pavilion from evening until morning, if there was practically no profit. I decided to talk to the store owner, I wanted to offer her some tricks and promotions to attract customers. Firstly, the bouquets were sold terribly boring! I wanted to diversify artistic compositions. Secondly, she did not have any discounts and discount cards, it was necessary to do so. Thirdly, it would not hurt to simply distribute flyers for products. For some reason, my conservative mistress flatly refused my proposals, and everything remained the same. However, I firmly decided to save money and open my own pavilion. Two years later, I did just that. During this time, I studied the entire market and the nuances of opening my store. I found profitable suppliers with excellent products and worked on my own floristry skills. So, being a 4th year student at the institute, I have already become a businesswoman. I did not do night shifts, but, having agreed with the teachers, I worked in the store all day and was very glad about it. I not only sold standard bouquets, but also dyed white flowers in different shades, up to all the colors of the rainbow. I bought a variety of jewelry, even went to the atelier for this. There were no bouquets like mine in the whole city. A lot has been said about my shop. I sold bouquets in huge quantities and made them to order. Once, before March 8, I came up with the idea to open a second pavilion, because I was sure that my bouquets would be sold with a bang. So I did. I hired a worker and told her what was happening in my showroom. She was immensely happy to be my subordinate, as she herself said, and glad to learn what I can do. A year later, she became my companion, and now the two of us own a whole network of flower shops and several stores in two cities.

Premises and place for flower trade

Many people ask the question “I want to open a flower shop, what do I need for this?”. The amount of investment required depends on the format of the store. There are many options - from a trailer on wheels to a salon in a solid room

Room type

Opening a flower business from scratch is attractive because it does not require large premises.

Choose one of the options:

  1. Cheap segment : a commercial trailer on wheels (tonar) is a profitable investment. The trailer can be transported in case of an unprofitable place, and in case of failure of the flower business, it can be retrained (coffee / tea, hot dogs, etc.) or sold at a profit. The price of a used tonar is ≈ 110 thousand rubles.
  2. Middle segment : a modular pavilion with an area of 10 m2 is a convenient option, which can also be re-qualified and sold at any time. The price of a new pavilion for 10 m2 is ≈ 90 thousand rubles, the price of rent per month (10 m2) is ≈ 7 thousand rubles.
  3. high segment : renting premises in a shopping center means a large traffic of wealthy people and the opportunity to sell at good prices. Rent per month (10 m2) ≈ 10 thousand rubles.
  4. VIP segment : the first floor of a residential building is an appropriate option when placed in a favorable area. Such options are appropriate for a flower boutique / salon. The price of renting a room from 40m2 ≈ from 50 thousand rubles per month.

Note! An online store can be opened as an addition to any of the options.

Location selection

The future of the flower shop depends on how many people pass through the place where it is located. Choose options near the highway where you can park your car. A busy person will park, find your store a few meters away and buy flowers.

  • downtown - on the side of traffic from the center to the periphery;
  • in a residential area - on the side of traffic to the city center;
  • a place near the subway, in a pedestrian crossing .

Note! You can buy a ready-made flower business at a price of 250 thousand rubles.

Purchase of equipment

What you need to open a flower shop from scratch:

  • commercial equipment: counters, racks, plastic flower vases (20 pieces), a table, and 2 chairs;
  • showcases-refrigerators for flowers;
  • air conditioner;
  • computer;
  • cash machine.

In total, about 110 thousand rubles will be required.

Refrigerators are required, otherwise the products will wither. Trailers already have built-in refrigerators and air conditioners if it is a specialized flower tonar. In this case, you will require much less investment - up to 50 thousand rubles.

When calculating how much it costs to open a flower shop, include repairs in the estimate - from 350 thousand rubles above.

The right assortment is the key to profit

The main task is to satisfy the needs of everyone entering your store. A poor assortment will force the client to look at flowers from others or change the idea with a bouquet for another gift.

To open a flower shop from scratch, be sure to explore the windows in the city's main flower outlets.

Diversification of the assortment depends on the format of the outlet:

  • trailer shop (minimum range): carnation - 3 colors, single chrysanthemum - 3 colors, spray carnation - 3 colors, rose - 5 colors, spray rose - 2-3 colors, gerbera - mix, tulip (seasonal) - 3 colors.
  • Modular pavilion on 10 m2 you can add a variety of rose colors, and with an area of 15 m2 you can add feces, irises and orchids.
  • Shop in the mall always has an additional product that makes a profit and does not deteriorate. These are flowers in pots, beautiful pots, soil mixtures and fertilizers, postcards, vases, accessories and more.
  • Vip-class flower salon involves an exclusive range, exotic flowers, fittings and accessories.

Recently, eustoma has been relevant - it is inexpensive, delicate, beautiful colors, long standing.

Accessories for packaging: transparent film, packaging-cones for 1,3 and 5 colors, corrugated paper, interlining, colored tape, adhesive tape, etc.

Margin for flowers 200%, for flowers of excellent quality 250% or more. Flowers that have not been sold in a week must be sold at a discount, and those that are very wilted should be thrown away, otherwise this is a minus in reputation.

The most important secret of success is the presentation of flowers. A small store involves purchasing from a supplier by self-delivery, which allows you to check all the goods directly at the base.

It is necessary to cooperate with two or three suppliers, so that in the event of a holiday rush, you will not be left without goods and excess profits. Main suppliers: Holland, Ecuador and domestic representative. The best product, prices and approach from the Dutch supplier.

The purchase should be divided into categories:

  • "star" assortment - this is the main purchase, which is 100% of the running assortment, purchased on an ongoing basis;
  • additional purchase - this is an order above the main one, which is determined by an experienced seller or owner, depending on the need;
  • holiday shopping : the order for February 14 is made on January 23-25 in double volume, for September 1, the order is made on August 9 in double volume, for March 8, the order is made on February 1 in tenfold size.

Note! Please note that for the purchase on March 8, you will need to make an advance payment in the amount of 1/3 of the order and more, given the increased prices.

Advertising

First of all, you need a bright sign in the form of a light box, which will be visible at night. The inscription should give an understanding of the product "Your bouquet", "Million Red roses" etc. The cost of a box 2 meters long and 0.7 meters high is ≈ 16 thousand rubles.

Order the creation of your own website with flower delivery. For delivery, enter into a partnership agreement with a taxi driver. Advertise the site and store for free (social networks, sales sites) or for a fee.

Required: make a batch of beautiful business cards and give them to those who make purchases for a decent amount. A good idea with a discount for those who purchased in the amount of 1500 rubles.

Staff

Hiring a professional florist from the start is difficult and expensive. It is better to choose a novice specialist, since such an employee will not have to pay much. It is important to approve the initiative of a creative approach - this is a positive attitude of the florist and your profit.

For a flower salon or a boutique with a VIP clientele, professional florists are needed. This is an absolute must if you want to work with corporate clients and the VIP class.

Staff remuneration should be made up of the minimum rate (10 thousand rubles) and a percentage of sales. In this case, sales will be stimulated, since the florist seller will be interested in selling directly.

Flower shop business plan

The business plan is designed to guide the entrepreneur in the necessary investments and the speed of their payback. This will give an understanding of whether it is profitable to start such a commercial activity. Especially when it comes to risks when money for a business is taken on credit.

According to the minimum forecasts, sales will amount to 3-4 thousand rubles a day. It should be noted that during the holidays it will be a figure of 2-10 times more, so monthly sales will be adjusted.

Table. Costs (average)

Monthly calculation trailer shop Rented pavilion
Revenue 132 000,00 132 000,00
Product cost 66 000,00 66 000,00
Rental costs 7 000,00
Communal payments 8 000,00 8 000,00
Salary + salary tax 20 000,00 20 000,00
Other expenses 3 000,00 3 000,00
taxes 7 000,00 7 000,00
Net profit 28 000,00 21 000,00
Profitability calculation: 27% 19%
Invested funds
Purchase of premises 110 000,00
Purchase of equipment 50 000,00 110 000,00
light advertising box 16 000,00 16 000,00
Total invested 176 000,00 126 000,00
Payback period, months 6 6

The payback in both cases was six months, but it is worth considering that the trailer store does not need to pay rent and in the future will bring at least 7 thousand rubles more than a rental pavilion.

Before you open a flower shop, you should know some of the nuances:

  • Flowers should be marked down after 7 days, but not after they begin to wither.
  • The landlord is obliged to provide a rental vacation (without payment) for 1-2 weeks for the arrangement of the premises.
  • Be sure to check if utilities are included in the rental price.
  • Consider franchising.

Unusual approaches to the design of the bouquet will add prestige to your services. Let you have stylish and original bouquets - customers are always happy with this approach. An example of an idea: paper design imitating newspaper pages looks intriguing and unusual.

No matter how much competition in business grows, no matter what crises destroy the economy, at all times two types of goods are in demand: food and flowers. We will talk about the first type of goods in other articles on our site, and today we will talk about how simple and easy it is to earn capital on the flower trade. You can actually do this from scratch, spending only on the purchase of flowers for resale. You can start with at least 50 flowers, selling which you will earn more than 1000 rubles. The next time, having gained invaluable experience (and it may not be entirely positive), you will already purchase 5,000 flowers, selling which you will earn from 100,000 rubles ...

In fact, you do not need to have great knowledge and marketing tricks to sell flowers in holidays such as Valentine's Day, March 5-8, Easter, May 9, September 1. These days, flowers are bought everywhere: in stores, at subway exits, in the yards of high-rise buildings, on the Internet, with delivery to offices, and so on. The flower trade is one of the most right ways for beginners, try yourself in a small, but your own business. And there, as it goes, you can grow into a serious store or even a chain of stores. Moreover, there are simply no risks here (I think 10-20 thousand rubles is not an exorbitant amount for you).

Types of flower trade

  • An ordinary tent with flowers - an approximate budget for opening 50,000 rubles.
  • From the car - a budget of 10,000 rubles, if you own a car
  • From the tray (seller and boxes of flowers) - budget from 5,000 rubles.
  • Delivery to offices (walking around offices and offering flowers to employees) - budget from 5,000 rubles.
  • Flowers in traffic jams (can be delivered by bicycle or scooter) - budget from 5,000 rubles.
  • Individual entrepreneurs who “ate the dog” on flowers for the holidays set up 5-10 tents in worked-out places and earn hundreds of thousands of rubles “clean” in just a couple of days.

What markup should be to sell flowers

Much depends on how much you buy flowers in bulk. If roses are retailed at 80 rubles per piece, then the maximum purchase price should be 40 rubles. That is, trading below a 100% margin does not make much sense, since you will have losses, you will spend on fuel, and if you are not trading yourself, then on the seller’s salary. So the minimum margin should be 100%. Otherwise, you won't earn anything. It is not necessary to set the price much lower than that of competitors. On holidays, people often buy flowers in a hurry, and will not wander around the city (not all, of course) carving out a penny of profit. It is better to take care of how to choose the right place for trading. Do you want to have a constant good income? Then try to make money on Avito and other message boards. See about stable income on regular ads and try your hand. Knowing what and how best to sell, you can not only trade in flowers, but also significantly expand your business.

Location of flower trade

90% of the success in street flower sales for the holidays is the choice of location. This is a whole science, so on the forums you can often find examples of how one person literally raised "loot" on flowers, while others went into a specific minus and were disappointed in the case. What can be recommended here. Lots of options. Paradoxically, one of the best places is to stand near a popular flower shop. Not right under their porch, of course, but at least 30-50 meters away. What can work is that people go to a well-known store, see a long line or high prices there, turn around and see your outlet. They buy flowers from you. But there is a danger here - if you are trading illegally, the store owner will definitely inform the police, since he does not need "arrogant" competitors. Before Easter, it is customary to visit the cemetery and bring flowers to the graves of relatives and friends. If you set up a tray near the entrance to the cemetery, the proceeds will be provided. The main thing here is not to miscalculate with flowers: carnations and artificial flowers are used (which, by the way, do not deteriorate). You should not stand in front of large hypermarkets, counting on high traffic - recently, federal networks before the holidays themselves sell flowers at very low prices (in fact, at purchase prices).

Do I need a permit to sell flowers?

Most frequently asked question beginner florist - what trade permits do you need? According to the law, only a person or organization registered in tax service. The only exceptions are cases when flowers are sold from a personal subsidiary farm, that is, grown personally by the seller of flowers. But, as you understand, this option is not suitable for us. In this case, the question arises - is it even worth registering an IP for the sake of one day? Let the opening of an individual entrepreneur cost only 800 rubles. state fees, but no one needs extra running around with papers. Despite the fact that later you will have to go and close the business (otherwise you will receive pension contributions for the year for 20 thousand rubles). What do we risk if we just take and stand with flowers near the metro or the market? The worst thing that awaits you is an administrative fine of 2,500 rubles. (or a little more). Is it a lot? I think a little, and there are real examples of how people managed to trade, pay a fine and still stay in the black. By the way, here is one example:

In no case do I urge you to conduct illegal business, on the contrary, I am for honest business. But you must admit, for the sake of one day, you can take a chance. And there, if you go - be sure to register. Some forums offer to try flower delivery to offices on March 8 - also an option, so you definitely won't be caught.

Pitfalls of the flower business

  1. The right choice of colors. Depending on the holiday, some flowers become popular, while others, on the contrary, are bought much less frequently. Roses and chrysanthemums are best for Valentine's Day, carnations and tulips for Easter, tulips for May 9, tulips, mimosa, roses for March 8 (a little worse because of the high price).
  2. Flower storage. Roses, tulips, mimosa, etc., are known to be very capricious plants. If the temperature deviates from the norm, the flower quickly withers and loses its presentation. For this reason, don't buy flowers ahead of time if you don't have storage space. You can just throw money away. Most street vendors buy flowers on the morning of the sale so they can sell the flowers while they are fresh.

Step by step opening plan

To implement your idea for the sale of flower products on holidays, you need to consider the following aspects of the case:

  • what flowers are usually given on this holiday, seasonal or year-round species;
  • place and methods of selling flower products;
  • purchases of flowers, the formation and design of bouquets;
  • purchase of accessories for bouquets.

How much can you earn

On the pre-holiday and festive sale of tulips, you can get a net income of about five hundred US dollars in 3-4 days. Valentine's Day, February 23, Memorial Day of the Dead are also quite profitable for flower business.

Which equipment to choose

The equipment of the point of sale depends on how you will sell flower products. For a stationary time point, you will need a tray or a small pavilion (rather a shelter from rain and wind) and bulky vases for flower products. If you sell directly from the car, you only need containers for transporting and storing flowers.

Which OKVED to indicate when registering a business

If you decide to seriously engage in the flower business, you need to register it with the following codes: OKVED 52.48.32 - Retail sales of flower products and plants, as well as fertilizers and seeds. To sell bouquets via the Internet, you will need the appropriate code 52.61.2 - Retail sales through teleshops and computer networks (electronic commerce, including the Internet). And for the sale of flower products with delivery to offices and homes, you need code 64.12, which is responsible for the courier delivery of goods.

What documents are needed to open a business

To open a point of sale of flowers or sell them at retail via the Internet or by courier, it is enough to register an individual entrepreneurship. You will need: a passport, an application for state registration, a document confirming the payment of state duty, a scanned copy of the TIN certificate.

Which taxation system to choose for business registration

The most suitable option for levying taxes is the simplified taxation system (simplification).

Sales technology of flower products

An important factor is the place where flowers are sold. It is best that this is a place where there is a large flow of both pedestrians and vehicles. These may be walking areas shopping centers and shops, markets, pavilions selling flowers and plants. It is not bad to offer products to offices before the holidays, offering a reasonable discount for a certain number of bouquets. The original design, which does not overshadow the flowers, but emphasizes the style of the bouquet, significantly increases the demand and price of flower products. When selling mobile, for example, in traffic jams, focus on an adequate price and the accuracy of the design of the bouquet. The frills and clumsy packaging scare off a potential customer. Examples of bouquet design posted on the Internet will make it easier to choose products for large orders for offices or events. Business on flower products with a competent approach will bring you profit, and customers - joy. Selling flowers - interesting and profitable business, but if you want to develop further and know more explore the catalog of paid courses. Perhaps one or more of them will help you choose a profitable and interesting business for yourself, which you can do in parallel with your main business.
