It's no secret that four-legged pets get sick no less often than their owners. Unfortunately, ailments of dogs and cats in most cases turn out to be quite serious. In order to save a friend, you must act quickly and calmly. Let's figure out why the Eurican vaccine is needed, what effect it has, and what diseases it is aimed at treating.

"Eurikan": description

"Eurikan" is a complex hexavalent vaccine. The composition of the drug is two-component. It includes:

  • "Eurikan" DHPPI2 is a lyophilized vaccine aimed at combating canine distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, as well as type 2 parainfluenza in dogs.
  • "Eurikan" RL - liquid vaccine. Contains in inactivated form, as well as leptospira of the Canicola and Interohemorrhagia serogroups.

Another type of vaccine is also commercially available. Its composition contains “Eurikan” L instead of “Eurikan” RL. The difference between this liquid component and the one mentioned earlier is that it does not contain an inactivated rabies virus. Consequently, when vaccinated with such a drug, the dog does not acquire immunity from this dangerous disease.

Indications for use of the vaccine

For what diseases is Eurikan used? Instructions for use reveal the purpose of the drug:

  1. Canine plague is a viral disease that manifests itself in extensive lesions skin dogs in combination with fever, lesions nervous system and gastrointestinal tract. In addition, the course of the disease is often complicated by pneumonia. Puppies are especially susceptible to canine distemper, but infection in adulthood cannot be ruled out.
  2. Adenoviral infection is a contagious disease that affects the larynx, bronchi and trachea. Signs of the disease include cough, nasal discharge, fever, vomiting, as well as intestinal and stomach disorders. Symptoms such as shortness of breath and decreased activity of the dog are also common.
  3. Parvovirus infection has two forms of manifestation: intestinal and cardiac. Symptoms of the first type are elevated temperature body, diarrhea, vomiting, inflammation of the mucous membranes, abdominal pain. In the cardiac form of infection, damage to the heart muscles occurs.
  4. Parainfluenza type 2 - affects the upper Airways. Manifests itself in the form of tonsillitis, cough, serous discharge from the nose. Vomiting is sometimes observed. At the same time, the dog’s appetite does not deteriorate.
  5. Leptospirosis - infection, dangerous not only for the pet, but also for its owner. It proceeds secretly. Any clinical signs does not show. The pathogen, entering the dog’s body, causes damage to the liver, kidneys and mucous membranes, fever, jaundice, and dysfunction of the central nervous system. Incubation period does not exceed 15 days. Leptospirosis leads to the inevitable death of the animal.

Contraindications and side effects

Contraindications to the use of the vaccine in animals are: the following factors:

  • Do not use in already infected dogs.
  • Helminth infestation. If deworming is used, vaccination is recommended no earlier than 10 days after the procedure.

Like any other drug, it has some side effects and "Eurikan". Instructions for use for dogs warn of possible swelling at the injection site. In rare cases, an allergic reaction cannot be ruled out, requiring further symptomatic treatment. "Eurican" activates the production of antibodies specific to the previously mentioned viruses. The pet’s immunity is formed already on the 21st day after vaccination. And the protective effect lasts throughout the year.

If there are symptoms of infection, the vaccine can worsen the situation and lead to the inevitable death of the dog. January 7, 2015

Timely prevention allows you to avoid the occurrence of epidemics and the widespread spread of such deadly diseases as enteritis or plague. Vaccination against rabies is mandatory for all dogs and cats living in populated areas, as this disease is dangerous for humans and other carnivores. Which vaccine is superior to others in terms of protection efficiency and which is better for dogs: this question interests all owners of purebred animals.

What is vaccination

Vaccination is a procedure for artificially infecting an individual in order to develop immunity to a specific disease. It is known that once having suffered from plague, enteritis or other viral disease, the dog acquires resistance to the disease for a certain period of time and subsequent infection, if possible, then in mild form, even in case of close contact with a sick animal.

Antibodies that are produced when a virus appears in the body immediately react during subsequent attacks, killing the pathogen. A vaccinated dog does not get sick even after close contact with a virus carrier; in rare cases, the disease proceeds secretly, without obvious clinical signs.

The best vaccines for dogs are designed to form stable immunity, the use of which allows you to create reliable protection against viruses and avoid various side effects. Many professional breeders and nursery owners, after many years of raising healthy livestock, prefer foreign-made vaccines NOBIVAK RL, EURIKAN LR and RABIZIN.

Nobivak vaccine for dogs

Nobivak is an imported vaccine, manufactured in the Netherlands and has high effectiveness and international recognition veterinary specialists. Strong immunity in adult animals is developed within two weeks after vaccination and lasts for at least a year.

The manufacturer Intervet International produces a whole series of vaccines with trade name Nobivak, intended for dogs. It includes:

  • Nobivac Puppy DP which is the best drug for immunization of puppies. It protects against plague and parvovirus enteritis very small puppies, starting from 4-6 weeks. At this age, maternal antibodies transmitted with colostrum are still quite strong, therefore, for confident immunity, it is recommended to carry out two more vaccinations before the age of four months;
  • Nobivac DHPPi is the most commonly used vaccination for puppies from ten weeks of age and adult animals. It can be combined with the vaccine of the same name against leptospirosis or rabies. Immunity develops quickly and lasts for a year.
  • Monovalent vaccines Nobivak r (rabies) and Nobivak L (leptospirosis), they are most often used in combination with a polyvalent one. Since rabies vaccination is mandatory for all dogs from the age of three months, it is quite possible to use it separately, before the exhibition season or travel.
  • Nobivak KS protects against parainfluenza and bordetellosis, recommended from two weeks of age. Especially for dogs, the instructions provide for the intranasal route of administration.

Eurican vaccine for dogs

The French company Merial produces a series of vaccines with the trade name Eurican. The series actively uses two species, which are almost identical and differ only in the presence of the rabies component.

Eurican DHPPI+2L can be used for dogs and immunization of puppies from eight weeks, revaccination with a preparation containing a rabies vaccine is required. Adult dogs vaccinated for the first time need revaccination to acquire stable immunity; subsequently, the vaccination is given once at an interval of twelve months.

Vaccination for puppies from three months and for dogs Eurikan DHPPI+2LR protects animals from most deadly diseases: plague, enteritis, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza and rabies.

Rabizin

Rabizin can be used for puppies from three months of age, adult dogs and even pregnant bitches. The drug does not have a teratogenic effect and forms stable immunity after two weeks.

Any vaccine can cause an allergic reaction, which can range from mild discomfort to anaphylactic shock. Dogs prone to allergic reactions Special training is recommended. All animals must be dewormed ten days before vaccination.

After vaccination, it is advisable not to overload the dog with training, to minimize various stressful situations. In the first two weeks, the animal’s body is weakened, and if it is overcooled or stressed, the pet may get sick.
