Nurofen antipyretic for children. Nurofen for children: instructions for use and dosage. Fever after vaccination

An increase in body temperature is a protective reaction of the body to the action of a pathogen. Its change even by 1-2 degrees has a destructive effect on bacteria and viruses. But sometimes such a fever is difficult for patients to tolerate and can lead to serious complications. This is especially true for young patients, since infections in children always have more severe course than in adults. To normalize body temperature, antipyretic drugs are used. Suspension Nurofen is one of them.

Children's Nurofen does not contain sugar, alcohol and dyes.

Suspension or syrup: which is right?

Sometimes there is confusion in the name of the remedy: is it a syrup or a suspension? In fact, children's Nurofen is available in the form of a suspension - suspension medicinal powder in liquid form. But often it is called syrup for its viscous consistency and nice sweet taste (orange or strawberry), which is very popular with children.

When to bring down the temperature

Pediatricians say that not every fever needs to be treated. Low (up to 38.5°C) temperature in the first days viral infection- an indicator that the child's immunity is working, and the body is fighting the infection. It is normal if the temperature also rises after vaccination, which consists in the introduction of weakened strains of pathogens to form stable immunity.

But still there are indications for the appointment of antipyretics:

  • fever above 38.5 degrees (febrile fever);
  • poor health of the child at a relatively low temperature ( headache, pallor, severe lethargy, sweating);
  • post-vaccination reactions of moderate severity (doctors recommend giving the child an antipyretic immediately after vaccination and 6 hours after it, regardless of whether there is a temperature or not);
  • fever and restlessness during teething.

Effective for earaches, headaches, feverish conditions with colds and flu.

Svetlana, 24 years old:

“Nurofen syrup saves me and my daughter a lot. I had to drink it for the first time at 3.5 months, when after the vaccination it rose slight temperature. The medicine worked quickly, the girl stopped crying and fell asleep. The set includes a very convenient syringe pen, and on the cardboard package there is a plate with dosages by age.

Maria, 25 years old:

“Nurofen is always in the children's first aid kit. This is a reliable tool that has repeatedly saved our baby from fever during infections and during teething. The taste is sweet and pleasant, the medicine did not cause allergies. But it seemed to me that the equipment with a spoon is more convenient than with a syringe. Not only did I not always calculate the strength by pressing the pump, and the baby poured out too much medicine at a time, but my son would never want to lie still until I finished all these dances with shaking and drawing syrup into a syringe. With a spoon, everything is easier and faster.

Some babies are more willing to drink medicine from a spoon.

Dosing regimen

single dose the drug is selected according to the weight of the child. The formula for calculating is 5-10 mg / kg of weight. The multiplicity of reception - every 6-8 hours. The daily dose is not recommended to be increased above 30 mg/kg. For convenience, you can use the table presented in the review.

Attention! To reduce high fever, Nurofen syrup should not be used for more than three days. If the child's fever persists, it is recommended to see a doctor to determine its cause. As an anesthetic, the drug can be used for up to 5 days.

Polina, 31 years old:

“We have been buying children's Nurofen for 4 years now, after the birth of our youngest son. The local pediatrician advised me to buy the product, there were mostly positive reviews on the Internet, so we decided to try it.

The effect is fast and reliable, the temperature always lowers us. Neither the eldest nor the youngest had allergies, although I heard that it occurs. I also note the well-thought-out protection of the bottle from children: the cap can only be removed in a special way, which is indicated on the package. Excellent remedy We'll take more."

The temperature has risen again: what to do

Many mothers are faced with a situation where the temperature stubbornly returns. Well, if from time last appointment Nurofen has passed 6-8 hours, and you can give another dose of the drug. But what if the prescribed 6 hours have not yet passed, and the temperature is again 38.5 and above?

Panadol - antipyretic drug based on paracetamol.

In this case, pediatricians recommend alternating antipyretics and changing Nurofen, active substance which is ibuprofen, to drugs based on paracetamol (Panadol, Efferalgan). Do not use the suspension for more than 3 days as an antipyretic, more than 5 days as an anesthetic.

3. in tablets (for older children)

Nurofen® tablets, as well as Nurofen® suppositories and suspensions for children, contain the active ingredient ibuprofen, however, its dosage in tablets is higher (200 mg): it is intended for children aged six years and older (with a child weighing more than 20 kg ). Children from 6 to 12 years old are prescribed to take 1 tablet of Nurofen for children no more than 4 times a day under the supervision of a doctor. The maximum recommended daily dose of ibuprofen for children over 6 years of age is 800 mg, for adults - 1200 mg. (piluli.kharkov.ua).

Other Ingredients: Croscarmellose sodium, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium citrate, stearic acid, colloidal silicon anhydride, carmellose sodium, talc, acacia, sucrose, titanium dioxide, macrogol 6000.

Take, for example, a child weighing 11 kg.

If you need to take no more than 10 mg / kg of ibuprofen per kilogram of weight once inside, then the calculation is carried out as follows.

We take a suspension, where 5 ml of the suspension contains 100 mg of ibuprofen.

The child weighs 11 kg. The formula is simple.

11kg * 10mg/kg = 110mg is a single dose of ibuprofen. I always take the maximum number to make sure it works. Those. if they advise no more than 10 mg / kg, then I take exactly 10 mg / kg for calculation.

In 5 ml - 100 mg of ibuprofen, and in? ml - 110 mg. Using the proportion method, we derive a single dose of Nurofen

(5*110/100) = 5.5 ml. It is best not to exceed this single dose of Nurofen.

Personal opinion

In my experience, Nurofen in suspension is very sweet. So much so that it causes a vomiting reaction in the child. It must be given in large volume, which is not the best for the child. My children spat it back when taking Nurofen in suspension. Not only is the taste very synthetic, but there is also a lot of sugar. The children asked for water all the time.

It's good that Nurofen suppositories appeared. But I still switched to another antipyretic, since in 80% of cases of taking Nurofen, the temperature was kept at reduced level about 2-3 hours, then rose again. I had to use other antipyretics to bring down the temperature.

And one more nuance, Nurofen did not take a temperature above 39.5 from my children. Another temperature (39 degrees) knocked down 40 minutes. And then only up to 38.5.

As for the side effects, very often it was on him that the children had an allergy, a rash around the mouth and on the hands, their cheeks were burning. She didn't itch, but that wasn't pleasant either. It is clear that it is individual that the rash is on the components, and not on ibuprofen. But you can't separate it :)

Personal opinion

I don't really like the taste of Panadol baby, it's bitter. But still better than the cloying taste of Nurofen.

The liquid is thick and viscous. Drink this ... well, for an amateur. It's very sticky and hard to swallow. But Panadol is smart, he brought down the temperature of 39.5 in 30 minutes.

Is there some more Panadol baby (candles) . The active substance is paracetamol. They have a dosage of 125 mg and have 250 mg of paracetamol in 1 suppository.

It is used in children from 3 months to 12 years of age as: - an antipyretic for acute respiratory diseases, influenza, childhood infections, post-vaccination reactions and other conditions accompanied by an increase in body temperature; - an analgesic for pain syndrome of mild to moderate intensity, including: headache and toothache, muscle pain, neuralgia, pain from injuries and burns.

Children aged 3 months to 3 years are usually prescribed 1 suppository 3 times a day with an interval of at least 4 hours. (piluli.kharkov.ua)

Paracetamol with rectal administration is absorbed more slowly than with oral administration, while the peak of its concentration in the blood plasma is reached after 1 hour, while when administered orally - after 30 minutes-1 hour (Clissold S.P., 1986; Kolloffel W.J., 1996).

Everything is simple, according to the same scheme as Nurofen.

Let's take a suspension. 5 ml contains 120 mg of paracetamol. A single dose is 10-15 mg / kg.

In a child weighing 11 kg, a single dose will be:

11kg * 15 mg / kg = 165 mg - a single dose of paracetamol.

Using the proportion method, we calculate how much Panadol baby should be given:

(5 * 165/120) \u003d 6.875 ml of Panadol baby medication - a single dose.

Personal opinion

I liked Efferalgan suppositories for their action, the child’s temperature was brought down well, and this is in the presence of rotavirus, when you don’t push anything into your mouth, there is only one way out. In the presence of diarrhea (not strong), after 20 minutes something came out that pushed, but the temperature was brought down from 39.5 to 38.5.

Personal opinion

Children are prescribed 1 suppository at a time, but in some cases (age and weight), one suppository is not enough to reduce the pace and pain. In this case, you should not make a decision on the use of Analdim yourself, it is better to call your doctor or an ambulance and consult.

One candle did not bring down the temperature of 39.5 degrees to my child. Although his composition allows him to think that he should do this, since he is designed to “take” more high temperatures than Nurofen and Panadol. In the ambulance, they told me that 1 piece was not enough for the age of the child and his weight. But you should not prescribe it yourself - this is the lot of doctors! Children under one year old should not take it.

It is impossible, because the drug contains analgin and diphenhydramine - not the best for young children. Therefore, firstly, it should be prescribed by a doctor, and secondly, it is used in emergency cases, when the pace is not interrupted by anything else.

For my children I chose Children's Advil. For the first time I came across him on the advice of my friends, thank you very much, in 2012.

At that time, my children were already refusing Nurofen, they were falling out of Panadol, I was in a little despair, because there was no longer at hand the drug that could be used urgently

Produces products Wyeth Consumer Healthcare, USA

This drug is marketed for children older than 6 months in the following forms

Drops for children 6-23 months

Repeat dose every 6 to 8 hours as needed.

Just use the meter that comes with the product to be sure you are giving the correct dose.

5 - 7 kg 6 -11 months 1.25 ml
8 - 11 kg 12-23 months 1.875 ml

Here, each 1.25 ml contains 50 mg of ibuprofen.

Based on this dosage, I had to pour 2.5 ml of drops into a child with a weight of 10 kg. But I gave strictly by age - 1.875 ml of a measuring syringe. They take into account, apparently, not the limit values of the min and max of the permitted ibuprofen (5-10 mg / kg), but the average - 7.5 mg / kg.

Drops are translucent, not thick, not chemical in taste, pleasant for small children.

He just knocked down with a bang. For the last time, with pneumonia, Advil drops brought the temperature down to 40.5 degrees in half an hour to 39.3. And lowered further. I'm praying for him. But we have already grown from the drops, so we are switching to Syrup for children 2-11 years old

Our syrup came in two flavors:

With chewy taste)))

With grape flavor

This is what they look like in real life

In comparison with lipstick, so that you can see the height

They are available in this flavor.

Looks like a liquid

It's blue

It's red. I like the taste more blue, the red bakes the tongue more. The taste is not vigorous, chemistry is not clearly felt. Such a simple taste that hides bitterness. In terms of viscosity, I can say that they are much more pleasant to drink than Nurofen and Panadol. They are thinner and easier to swallow. This is definitely a plus.

A measuring cup is given in the kit and the dosage by age and weight is immediately written on the bottle.

Shake before use.
Repeat dose every 6 to 8 hours as needed.
Do not use more than 4 times a day.
Find correct dosage on the diagram. If possible, use weight for dosing; otherwise, use age.
Just use the meter that comes with the product to be sure you are giving the correct dose. An ordinary kitchen teaspoon may not give the correct amount of medicine.

The syrup contains 100 mg of ibuprofen in 5 ml.

I give Vanya 1.5 measuring cups with a weight of 19 kg. And from the calculation formula, I should give 9.5 ml when calculating from 10 mg / kg. If you calculate the average (7.5 mg / kg), then you get - 7.1 ml. Measured, 6.5 ml of water is placed in 1.5 measuring cups.

Based on the table, then 1.5 cups are given to children weighing 16-21 kg :))) somehow ambiguous, but it works)))

Orally, the agent acts faster and more efficiently, rectally - it may take a little longer. The second method is applicable for vomiting, nausea, or another situation.
