Initial letter medicinal

At present, thanks to opportunities that botanists did not have before, the plant world has been studied much better than in former times. So, the well-known family - Lamiaceae, includes about 3,500 species found all over the planet, and it is very easy to recognize these plants: in almost all labiales, flowers are collected in a corolla on a long tube, and their shape resembles a pharynx - the open mouth of an unprecedented beast.

This family includes a perennial plant, healing properties which have been known since ancient times - the initial medicinal letter. The tetrahedral erect stem of the initial cap is covered with hairs and reaches a height of 1 m; leaves are paired, opposite, and large purple-red flowers irregular shape collected in a "spikelet" at the top. When the plant fades - and it blooms in July and August, on it - by the beginning of September, a dark brown fruit appears, inside of which there are four nuts. The smell of the initial letter is quite strong, peculiar and even sharp, and the taste of the plant is salty-bitter.

The initial letter medicinal grows in the European part of Russia and the CIS, in Western Siberia and the Caucasus, in Central Asia, in the Pamirs and Tien Shan. The plant loves shrubs, clearings, meadows and roadside ditches, mixed and coniferous forests, loamy, sandy, slightly acidic and dry soils. Fresh initial letter livestock does not eat - animals are repelled by a specific smell, but in dry form, in hay, it is very useful, as it contains a lot of vegetable protein.

Meanwhile, drugs medicinal initials have analgesic, hemostatic, antiseptic, soothing, wound healing, anti-asthma, expectorant, choleretic, anti-inflammatory action; improve digestion, blood circulation and metabolism, lower high blood pressure, and many more therapeutic actions- It was not in vain that Roman and Greek doctors used the initial letter so widely and actively.

Perhaps our scientific medicine does not use the initial letter because of ignorance of its composition - it is poorly studied, although the properties of many components of the plant are still well known. The initial letter contains proteins, vitamins - C, K, group B, calcium salts and other minerals, resins, bitterness, anthocyanins, alkaloids, flavone glycosides - all these substances are highly biologically active.
